Missing freeview channels

A high-definition simulcast, 4seven HD, launched on 1 July 2014 on Freeview channel 111. 4seven HD was added to Virgin Media in November 2016.

Most Freeview viewers will simply need to retune their TV equipment when this change takes place in their area. However, Ofcom has stated that between 140,000 and 270,000 homes may also need to either replace or realign their aerial to continue receiving all available channels.

The service, which will go head to head with the on-demand movie offerings of Blinkbox and LoveFilm, will operate in addition to the existing 4OD catch-up TV platform.
First check that your TV is set to the correct Source or Input, try changing the Source or Input to AV, TV, Digital TV or DTV if you haven't already. If your “No Signal” message is not due to incorrect Source or Input being selected, then it's most likely caused by a set up or antenna fault.

Suffice it to say there are lots of them, including less 'traditional' fare such as Dave, Film 4, Challenge, Quest, Really, Pick and a smattering of high-definition (HD) versions of some of those other listed channels. You'll also get BT Sport 1, 2, 3 and BT Sport ESPN.
Re: How to get HD on iPlayer and All4? Channel 4 do not stream in HD. Within the iPlayer settings menu there is an option for picture quality, you need to select HD as the default.

On the Channel 4 site, it says this in 'How to Watch All 4 on TV' under Sky: 'If you have access to on-demand content, press TV Guide and then the red button. You will find All 4 programmes in both 'Catch-Up' (programmes from up to the last 30 days) and 'Library' (a selection of archive programmes). '
Channel Four Television Corporation was set up by an Act of Parliament. It is a publicly owned not-for-profit corporation and does not have any shareholders. Who runs Channel 4? The Board is appointed by the television regulator – Ofcom – in agreement with the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
This means you can now find E4 +1 on channel 235.
UNPLUG THE CABLE GOING FROM THE TV TO YOUR CABLE OR SAT BOX-Remove the HDMI cable or other cables from your Cable TV or SAT set top box. -Keep the cable unplugged for 2 to 3 minutes. -Plug the HDMI cable or other cables back in. -Give it some time for the Cable or SAT box to get the signal and initialize.
Freeview states that if after a retune you can't access BBC channels on the usual numbers (such as 1 for BBC One, 2 for BBC Two), then you may need to have your aerial replaced. They advise contacting the Freeview Advice Line on freephone 0808 100 0288.
How do I retune my TV?
- Press menu on your box or TV remote control.
- Select set up, installation, update, or a similar option.
- Select first-time installation (sometimes called factory reset, full retune or default settings).
- Press OK if your equipment asks if it's OK to delete existing channels, then your retune should start automatically.
What channels are on Freeview?

Firstly, you may be one of the unlucky UK residents who cannot receive a signal to enable you access to channel 50. Alternatively, if you know you've had channel 50 before and now it's disappeared, then we suggest retuning your TV. Retuning allows your TV to access the most up-to-date channels available.
These days, if you live in a large metropolitan area and plug in a digital TV antenna to your TV, you can easily receive anywhere from 70 to more than 100 channels. In some areas, such as Los Angeles, you can get up to 157 channels.
2020 UPDATE: The FCC and TV stations are in the midst of a "channel re-pack" where they are shifting the frequencies of many TV stations. During this period, you may lose channels due to the signal being temporarily weaker while the real antenna tower is upgraded, or due to the signal coming from a different direction.
If you do not get all of your channels, the problem lies with the antenna or cable. Connect the TV to a different cable connection, and then repeat the Auto Program procedure. If you get all of your channels, the problem lies with the cable.
Thankfully, there are some simple tips and tricks that will help you get optimal reception with your indoor antenna.
- Find out where the broadcast towers are in your area. Aiming your antenna at TV transmission towers can improve reception.
- Place the antenna in or near a window.
- Go high.
- Test different antenna placements.
