Flashback: Saints win Super Bowl XLIV. 02/07/2010 Drew Brees led the New Orleans Saints to a 31-17 Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
There, they defeated Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings in overtime, then went on to face Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts at Super Bowl XLIV in the franchise's first-ever Super Bowl appearance. The Saints won the Super Bowl 31–17, giving the city of New Orleans its first NFL championship.
The team was named "Saints" due to its birthday on the Roman Catholic Church's All Saints Day—a fitting nickname for a team in the largely Catholic New Orleans area. The name was announced on January 9, 1967. At the time, however, the Saints' three wins tied for the most ever for an expansion team's inaugural season.
Drew Brees, QB — $244.7 million
One thing to know: While much has been made of Tom Brady still playing well into his late 30s and early 40s, Brees is not far behind and doesn't seem ready to retire. They had Rivers on a $40 million contract, and he had sat for his first two years. That put the Chargers in an impossible position given the salary cap. In addition, there was lingering concern over a shoulder injury Brees suffered during the season. So, they made the only decision that made sense -they let Brees go.
Brees owns multiple Jimmy John's and Dunkin' franchises. He also invested in food delivery service Waitr. His foundation has donated more than $25 million to causes and academic institutions in New Orleans, San Diego and West Lafayette/Purdue communities.
Though Brady posted a career-low single-season passer rating of 85.7 and a career-high of 14 interceptions, he threw for a league-leading 28 touchdown passes and 921 more yards than in the 2001 season.
Brittany and Drew at first met amid school when they both were going to the lofty Purdue University. Following five years of productive life, in 2008, Brittany declared that she is pregnant with their first kid. Starting now, the couple is the pleased parent to four kids, Baylen, Bowen, Callen, and Rylen.
#1 Drew Brees. After making $7.4 million in salary during the 2011 season, Brees signed a 5-year, $100 million contract in July that included a $37 million signing bonus. His $20 million-a-year average salary is the highest in the history of the NFL.
What happened to Drew Brees' face? So it turns out, the scar on Drew's face is actually a birthmark and not the result of an injury. In a previous interview with CNN, he opened up about how he dealt with bullying because of his mark (Oprah Winfrey even mistook it for a lipstick kiss years ago).
Brees, who had surgery on Wednesday after tearing a ligament in last Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, will instead watch the game on television.
Brees is believed to have a ligament issue on his throwing thumb after injuring his throwing hand in Sunday's loss to the Rams. The 40-year-old was removed after he hit his throwing hand on Aaron Donald during a pass rush in the first quarter. Brees was replaced by Teddy Bridgewater in the game after exiting.
LOS ANGELES — Drew Brees was knocked out of the New Orleans Saints' NFC title game rematch against the Los Angeles Rams due to an injured hand. Brees did not return to the Saints' 27-9 loss to the Rams. Brees exited the game after being hit by Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees will undergo surgery on his throwing hand on Wednesday in Los Angeles with Dr. Steven Shinn, reports ESPN's Ed Werder. Brees is believed to have a ligament issue on his throwing thumb after injuring his throwing hand in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
It's official. Drew Brees will return to the New Orleans Saints for the 2020 season. The future Hall of Fame quarterback made the announcement via Instagram after weeks of mulling his NFL future.
The quarterback's new contract is for 2 years at a total of $50 million dollars. According to Spotrac.com, the deal includes a $23 million signing bonus. Brees will count $23.65 million against the Saints salary cap in 2020, a far lower number than several other quarterbacks throughout the league.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater led the New Orleans Saints to a 5-0 record during the absence of Drew Brees during the 2019 season, earning him a 3-year, $63 Million contract to become the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers in 2020.
Dude’s played on better teams with better players his entire career and Brees is still number 1 in passing yards and TDs and has had the best completion % for 3 seasons in a row. Tom Brady has played for better teams, but Drew Brees is a better overall QB.
