When 911 calls or indeed 112 and 999 emergency calls are made and not completed, dispatchers will go on alert. They're going to try and confirm the situation by calling back. If your line is busy or you fail to answer, there is a good chance that your situation will be considered a 112, 999, or 911 emergency.

The Silent Solution is a police system used to filter out large numbers of accidental or hoax 999 calls. It will ask you to press 55 to be put through to police call management. The BT operator will remain on the line and listen. If you press 55, they will be notified and transfer the call to the police.
“If you press 55, they will be notified and transfer the call to the police. If you don't press 55, the call will be terminated. Pressing 55 does not allow police to track your location.” The call will be transferred to your local police force.
Silent solution 55 is the name given to the initiative that allows people to call 999 when they are not able to speak. If it is dangerous to make any sound at all, the call will be put through to an automated system which asks the caller to press 55 if they are in danger.
Call 911, wait for an answer, then use your telephone's keypad to "talk" to the dispatcher. Press 1 if you need police, 2 for fire and 3 for an ambulance. If the dispatcher asks you questions, 4 means "yes" and 5 means "no."
Accidentally triggering a 999 call is not an offence, so the British Red Cross recommends that if you do pocket dial the emergency services, it is best to stay on the line, and explain to the operator that the call was unintentional.
999 is an official emergency telephone number in a number of countries which allows the caller to contact emergency services for urgent assistance.
The 101 number was introduced in December 2011 to free-up calls to 999. It is for reporting non-emergency incidents such as criminal damage, anti-social behaviour or stolen vehicles.
In the United Kingdom, the numbers 999 and 112 both connect to the same service, and there is no priority or charge for either of them. Callers dialling 911, the USA's emergency number, may be transferred to the 999 call system if the call is made within the United Kingdom from a mobile phone. Across Europe it is 112.
The 999 call originated in London in 1936 and was the world's first automatic telephone service to call the emergency services. A emergency number was suggested after a disaster in 1935 where five women died during a fire in Wimpole Street.
It's best to wait until you're in a committed relationship with a partner who has demonstrated they are capable of being your emergency contact before you scribble their name on a form. Until then, that's what parents, siblings, and best friends are for.

Why Employers Should Obtain Their Employees' Emergency Contact Information
- The employee passes out or otherwise gets sick at work (has a heart attack or other medical condition) and 911 is called;
- There's a warehouse accident and the employee has been injured;
In Case of Emergency (ICE) is a program that enables first responders, such as paramedics, firefighters, and police officers, as well as hospital personnel, to contact the next of kin of the owner of a mobile phone to obtain important medical or support information (the phone must be unlocked and working).
Since your emergency contact is the first person the doctors will notify in the event of an emergency, it makes sense that they also have the authority to make decisions about your medical care.
Originally Answered: What will happen if someone dialed 666? They would contact the beast. Hell and fire is going to be released. 112 is a common emergency telephone number that can be dialed free of charge from most mobile telephones and, in some countries, fixed telephones in order to reach emergency services (ambulance, fire and rescue, police).
The 112 number does link people through to 999, but it only works if you have a signal on your mobile phone. If you have no signal bars on your phone, it will not work. It will not divert to a satellite signal. All satellite telephones require line of sight.
Hence, dialling 112 emergency number is not going to fine you unless you intentionally make repeated calls and waste their time for your fun.
The European emergency number 112 is not the only emergency number in the UK . It is used alongside the national emergency number 999. People with disabilities can contact the emergency services by SMS to 112 or 999 as well as through text relay on textphones or the text relay application.
The 101 number was introduced in December 2011 to free-up calls to 999. It is for reporting non-emergency incidents such as criminal damage, anti-social behaviour or stolen vehicles.
Calling 911 is the best way to reach out for help in an emergency situation, but if you can't call or talk, you might be able to text. In 2014, police stations across America began rolling out Text-to-911, a program that lets people in trouble send a message in place of a call.
Send a SMS (text) message, “ REGISTER “, to 112. (112 is the European emergency number, recognised in hundreds of countries including many outside the EU, however, it is also recognised by GSM mobile cellular networks.) Wait a few seconds for the reply.
AP reports that member states have agreed that either 911 or 112 should be designated as emergency phone numbers — 911 is currently used in North America, while 112 is standard across the EU and in many other countries worldwide.
