Leather gloves are basic gloves worn on the hands that offer slight bonuses to Defence. Players can make these gloves through the Crafting skill at level 1 from leather, granting 13.75 Crafting experience. They are created when a player uses a needle on a piece of leather with some thread in their inventory.
Leather body is the weakest ranged torso in the game. It requires 1 Ranged to equip. With 14 Crafting, players may make a leather body by using a needle on a piece of leather with thread in the inventory. This grants 25 Crafting experience.
Cowhides are dropped by cows when they are killed. If it is brought to a tanner, it can be turned into soft leather for 1 coin or hard leather for 3 coins. Tanners can be found in Al Kharid, the Ranging Guild, Canifis and the Crafting Guild.
Tanning hide into leather involves a process which permanently alters the protein structure of skin, making it more durable and less susceptible to decomposition, and also possibly coloring it. Before tanning, the skins are dehaired, degreased, desalted and soaked in water over a period of six hours to two days.
Go to Al Kharid and tan all of them into leather or hard leather. Go back to the Grand Exchange and sell all of your leather.
Level 1-99
- The best way to get from level 1 to level 2 is making cracked mining urns, which grant 28.6 experience each.
- The fastest way to get from level 2 to level 5 is making cracked fishing urns, which grant 30 experience each.
Withdraw 27 cowhides from the bank south of the tanner and 3 coins for each hide you want to tan, thus costing a total of 81 coins. Run north into Ellis's building and right-click Trade Ellis. Tan them all, and run back to the bank. Each run takes approximately 25 seconds while running, and 45 seconds while walking.
Leather boots are footwear Ranged armour. They can be created at level 7 Crafting from 1 soft leather, awarding 16.25 Crafting experience. At level 43 Crafting, steel studs can be added to create studded leather boots, awarding 40 Crafting experience.

Thread is an item which is used in the crafting skill to make boots, gloves, and armour with a needle and leather. It can be bought from Dommik's Crafting Store, Rommik's Crafty Supplies, and the Fancy Clothes Store. One thread is used up per 5 leather items crafted.
Hard leather is made by taking cowhides to the tanner. Tanning hard leather costs 3 coins. Combined with thread and a needle, it can be used to make hardleather bodies at level 28 Crafting, granting 35 crafting experience.
Take It Step by Step
- Make a template of what you will need.
- Use your new template to cut foam to size to use for the cushions.
- Next wrap the foam in the quilt batting.
- Now it is time for the cowhide.
- Iron the cowhide before you attach it to the furniture.
- Use a staple gun to add the new cowhide upholstery.
Hard leather is used in the Crafting skill to make hard leather armour. It can be created by giving a cowhide and 3 coins to a tanner, or by using the Make Leather spell at level 83 Magic. Tanners can be found in Al Kharid, the Ranging Guild, Varrock, Taverley, Canifis, Prifddinas and the Crafting Guild.
Players can make this item through the Crafting skill at level 18 from one soft leather, by using a needle on it with a thread in the inventory granting 27 Crafting experience. They can be bought from Aaron's Archery Appendages in the Ranging Guild.
Using the Crafting skill, gems can be cut and made into jewellery and then enchanted using the Magic skill. Gems can also be cut into gem bolt tips. The chance of mining a gem from most ore rocks or Motherlode Mine ore veins is 1/256.
You may have came across the “you cannot sell that item until your account is older” message when trying to use the Grand Exchange. All new F2P accounts have restricted Grand Exchange access until one of the following requirements are met: 7 Quest Points. 24 Hours of active in-game time.
Right click on an Exchange Clerk (located in the center, in blue) and click on "Exchange". You'll see a screen with six boxes for buying and selling (two if you are a free player). Click on a box and you'll see new two boxes, each for the option of buying or selling an item.
Go over the road to the anvil and smith them into the highest level item you can. Repeat this until you have used all of your bronze bars up. Sell what you can of the items to the Varrock sword and Armour shops, you can sell what's left over to the general store.
The Grand Exchange, commonly referred to as the GE, is a trading system for players to purchase and sell tradeable items in Old School RuneScape. Members get eight Grand Exchange slots, in which they may buy or sell items; however, free players are limited to three.
Hammers can be found upstairs in the Faladian forge and in a crate in the Lumbridge furnace. They can also be obtained from a tool store 1 in a player-owned house workshop. A hammer is one of the base ingredients for creating a hammer-tron, the augmented version of the hammer.
They respawn at server reset. All the rune shops do it as well. Over the course of 24 hours, 2/1000 of each rune restocked, but the second 00:00 game time hit, they were full stock. They respawn at server reset.
The best place to sell or buy logs is at the Grand Exchange; located North-west of Varrock.
To trade with someone, a player must right-click the person and select the "Trade with" option. The message "Sending trade offer" will appear in the chat box, and "[player name] wishes to trade with you." will appear in the other player's chat box.
Players can switch this option on to run everywhere they go, or they can run to one particular destination by holding down Ctrl when they click to move (see Game controls). Free players and players with an Agility level of 1 have a recovery rate of 0.45 energy per second.
