People who hate on Halo 4 generally are mad because they suck at the game. This has been my experience since its launch. I'll admit that I suck at H4 but that has nothing to do with the fact that the game is bad. AAs, loadouts, random weapon respawns, terrible maps, ridiculous auto aim, unbalanced weapons, etc.
It was originally so successful because of the original graphical integrity, being a launch title for the original Xbox, and for being around before CoD could hog the show. Plus great mechanics, fun Co-Op gameplay and a fun (and surprisingly deep) story. These together made Halo into a juggernaut.
Halo 3. It was the fastest-selling video game ever and held the record for biggest entertainment launch in history with $170 million in sales within the first 24 hours and $300 million in one week. As of January 3, 2008, Halo 3 has sold 8.1 million copies, and was the best-selling video game of 2007 in the U.S.
Start with Halo Reach, go on to Halo: Combat Evolved than to Halo 2. Move onto Halo 3: ODST and than finish with Halo 3. I don't recommend moving onto Halo 4 as it really goes down hill right after, but if you really want to, start with halo 4 and move onto Halo 5: Guardians.
Halo 3 marked not only the first Halo title developed for the Xbox 360 which, at the time, was still in its relative infancy as a console, but an opportunity for Bungie to address the missteps they had made with Halo 2.
From the basic controls to the feel of the gameplay, ODST is as recognizable as any other Halo release; but everything else makes it a very different game, and all the more enjoyable because of it. The ODST cast is made up of marines that you've only previously heard of in other Halo games.
Halo 5 paid off a lot of other stories that they've been telling for years. Unfortunately for the extremely vast amount of fans, those stories were in book form. Halo 4 had a great campaign (at least from a writing perspective) but pretty bad multiplayer. Halo 5 has great multiplayer but a less-than-stellar campaign.
The only story based FPS of the time was Half-Life, but the multiplayer was poor. Halo managed to do both. The story gameplay was excellent and the multiplayer was strong enough to stand by itself. Halo also had several features that were new to console FPS games like coop gameplay, vehicles and intelligent AI.

Lone Wolf is the eleventh and final campaign level of Halo: Reach. The level takes place after the credits and will be accessible to players when they finish the entire game.
Let's start off with the good. If you're playing Halo Reach on Xbox One, via the Master Chief Collection, you'll have full access to splitscreen co-op. You'll be able to bring along one friend to help you through Reach's campaign in splitscreen.

mediocre plot - While the idea behind it is good, and there were some fun times, while playing it, sometimes it just fell short. It was also a bit short. Armor Abilities/loadouts - This is the main thing people hate about reach. It introduced armor abilities and loadouts that made the game not always feel like halo.
Pretty sure Halo Reach is a main game, not a spinoff. It is a prequel, but I don't think that makes it a spinoff.

While Master Chief does hold the highest enlisted rank, Noble 6 is an officer. As a Lieutenant Noble 6 outranks Master Chief, and could theoretically be placed as his commanding officer. Being an officer provides Noble 6 with more human resources at his fingertips and the ability to give direction and lead.
Locke is an ONI Spartan who can fight with a wide array of weapons. Noble Six and MCPO John-117 on the other hand are the only two Spartans who were given the classifications of Hyper-Lethal Vector.
Halo reach because of armor customization, firefight and the cr/rank up system. But Halo 4 allows you to swap out armor pieces, and not just attachments. Unless you are referring to how Halo Reach was the basis of Halo 4's and was the first game to advance customization to such and extent.
Halo 3 has arguably the best campaign and easily the worst multiplayer. Reach is solid all around and despite its flaws Halo 4 was a good game. @R3FURBISHED said: Reach was by far my favorite of the entire series then Combat Evolved, Halo 2 then Halo 3.
Halo 3 had a better campaign, it had better multiplayer, and even Forge along with better maps and way more solid matches during gameplay. We all knew it and that is why they brought the servers down for Halo 2 for Halo 3. Halo 3 having better campaign, multiplayer, etc. is a complete opinion.
Halo Reach nailed it with the campaign, modes, visuals, music, and customization. It gives the most variety out of all the Halo games. It's my favorite, but Halo 4 is a close second.
They are different games but take place at the same time. In Halo 3, you play as the Chief and briefly battle in the city until you leave. Halo ODST, you play as a Orbital Drop Shock Trooper named Rookie. Halo 3: ODST takes place during Halo 2, not Halo 3.
