Nestled between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood, Florida is known for its beautiful stretch of beach, perfect for a beach vacation. You can find unique shopping, beachfront restaurants and bars along Hollywood's Broadwalk, in addition to yearlong activities and live music.
As a general rule, the water anywhere in Florida will be warm enough to swim between April and October. During the cooler months, the farther south you go, the warmer it will be. Fort Lauderdale, Miami, the Keys, Marco Island and Naples will have the warmest water during the winter.
The waters of the Atlantic Ocean on the East Coast of Florida are, in general, known to have more wave action than the Gulf Coast. It means more opportunities for surfing (Kelly Slater grew up surfing this coast) and general water play for those looking for a vacation that includes a more active beach experience.
Fort Zachary Taylor Park Beach, Key West
Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park is a National Historic Landmark that offers some of the clearest blue waters for snorkeling and diving in Key West.- Marco Island. Often referred to as the safest city in Florida, period, Marco Island offers one of the most stable communities in the state.

Hollywood is a relatively safe city, especially near tourist areas along the ocean. Still use common sense. Don't walk at night alone, be wary of strangers, and do not draw too much attention to yourself. Also the beach in the area is prone to rip currents and man-o-war (jellyfish).
We rarely have any shark encounters in Miami, but they do live in the Atlantic Ocean, so just be aware and exercise caution.
There is a designated area on the beach that alcohol is allowed. It is right in front of the Margaritaville Resort. There are signs that show the area you are allowed. In fact, there are Waiters that offer food and drinks that come right on the beach.
Based on FBI crime data, Hollywood is not one of the safest communities in America. The chance that a person will become a victim of a violent crime in Hollywood; such as armed robbery, aggravated assault, rape or murder; is 1 in 336.
Their U.S. population is strongest in Florida Bay, Everglades National Park and the Upper Florida Keys. But they have been spotted in Hollywood, Boca Raton and other coastal cities, as well as on the Gulf coast.

Red tide has not been identified on Hollywood Beach at this time, however due to the positive test results in Palm Beach County to our north, the City is providing additional information regarding red tide. In Florida, the species that causes most red tides is Karenia brevis, a naturally occurring toxic algae bloom.
In recent years, Hollywood has become one of the best places to visit on Florida's east coast. While movie stars don't grace the palm-lined streets of this downtown, you'll find glistening beaches and a vibrant nightlife worthy of any A list celeb.
Hollywood, FL Hollywood Beach feels more "old-school Florida" than "sexy Miami." The beach, which is bordered by a 2.5-mile boardwalk and promenade, enjoys a charming and quaint feel, perfect for families of all ages.
Even though Hollywood is just 12 miles to the coast, plan on at least a half-hour drive which can be much worse during rush hour. Find parking in the area and then head out to the food and fun at Pacific Park on Santa Monica Pier.
