Type gateway.2wire.net (the default IP to access the admin interface) in the address bar of your internet browser to access the router's web-based user interface. The default username for your 2Wire 2700HG-E is (blank). The default password is NOLOGIN.
Pace Router Login Guide
- Open your internet browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Internet Explorer)
- Type 192.168. 1.254 (the most common IP for Pace routers) in the address bar of your web browser to access the router's web-based user interface.
- The default username for your Pace router is admin.
Your 2Wire gateway modem allows you to create a local network with all of your computers and devices, so that you can share a single Internet connection with all of your computers, and share your files, documents and photos. You can network through the 2Wire modem using either an Ethernet or wireless connection.
The 2wire router will only work with a dsl connection. You can use the 2wire's four port ethernet switch and the B/G wireless access point with your cable modem.
Get into the 2wire modem config and look around to disable the DHCP server. Afterwards, hit save settings, now you have a nice ACCESS POINT. Connect your PC and cable modem to the 2wire modem(now access point) and you will be able to have cable modem internet through your wifi modem. It works for me.
The wireless symbol on the front of the Pace is the WPS button and once enabled you can press the button to connect to what ever device is needing to set itself up using WPS.
There are two ways to change your network name and passwordFor Android devices, tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner of the screen, then tap Internet. Tap the Wireless Gateway. Select "Change WiFi Settings." Enter your new network name and password.
In Android, settings menus vary from phone to phone, but once you find the Wi-Fi settings:
- Make sure your phone is connected to your router's Wi-Fi network.
- Tap on the network name.
- Look for a 'gateway', 'router' or other entry in the list.
To connect your Android device to a 2.4 GHz network:
- Unlock your device and tap the Settings app.
- Tap Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
- Enable WiFi by tapping Use WiFi at the top.
- Select a 2.4 GHz WiFi network.
- If prompted, enter the password for the network.
Selecting the proper WiFi channel can significantly improve your WiFi coverage and performance. In the 2.4 GHz band, 1, 6, and 11 are the only non-overlapping channels. Selecting one or more of these channels is an important part of setting up your network correctly.
If you don't want to rent an AT&T modem and router, you have the option to use your own equipment. So, for a comparable price, you can buy a modem that will last you many years.
ACCESS MODEM SETTINGS: Click the Wi-Fi tab then click Edit under the desired Wi-Fi frequency band. 3. ACCESS ROUTER SETTINGS: Click the Networking tab then click the LAN settings tab. The router settings will be displayed.
Here's how:
- Go to Smart Home Manager.
- Choose Network and then select Connected Devices. Only devices connected to your network will show.
- Choose the device you want to view. Once selected, you can change the device name for your network.
Restart your gateway or modem manually
- Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem.
- Wait 20 seconds.
- Put the internal battery back in, if you have one.
- Plug the power cord back in.
- Wait up to 10 minutes for the gateway or modem to restart and your Broadband light to turn solid green.
Find Your Router's IP AddressYou log into your router's firmware through a browser. Any browser will do. At the address field, type the IP address of your router. Most routers use an address of 192.168.1.1.
To back up the router configuration settings:
- Launch an Internet browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to the network.
- Enter the router user name and password. The user name is admin.
- Click ADVANCED > Administration > Backup Settings.
- Click Back Up.
- Specify a location on your network.
How to Reset a Router
- Keep your router plugged in.
- Find your router's reset button. This will be on the back or the bottom of your router.
- Use a paperclip to hold down the reset button for 30 seconds.
- Release the button.
- Wait for the router to power back on.
To set up access control:
- Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your router's network.
- Enter the router user name and password.
- Select ADVANCED > Security > Access Control.
- Select the Turn on Access Control check box.
It's probably because the router firewall is enabled and prevents the other devices to connect to it. In this case you have to reset the router (by pushing the reset button with a pin or power off then power on after about 15 seconds). When the router comes up, you can access the admin page only for about one minute.

Reset the 2Wire 2701HG-GTake the end of a paperclip or other similar object and press and hold the small red reset button for about 10 seconds. Note: This is going to erase ALL of your settings. Resetting your router should only be done as your last option. Try other troubleshooting methods before doing this.
