Only the issuing agency – the passport department of the country that issued the original document – can verify a passport as current or valid. If in doubt, contact the consulate of the country that issued the passport and ask if it can verify it for you.
Airline will deny you boarding with expired passport. Only thing you can do is go to nearest Indian embassy and renew the passport. It can take two weeks. If it is urgent to travel, you can directly approach the consulate and they will provide an emergency document that is valid only for returning to India.
No PV: Police Verification (PV) is not necessary in case of renewal/reissue of passport, if the passport application is submitted before expiry or within three years of expiry of the Passport, provided the system shows clear PV and nothing adverse is noticed.

To apply for fresh or reissue of passport via Online Form Submission, users need to register on Passport Seva Portal. After registering, login to the Passport Seva Portal. Click on Apply for Fresh Passport or Reissue of Passport link. Fill in the required details in the form and submit.
After the Police Verification, you need to check your application status on PSK again. If the status displayed is 'police has submitted clear report', then your passport would be printed and dispatched shortly. This is in case your Passport has been granted on Pre Police Verification basis.
Police verification, if required, will be conducted at the permanent address, which the applicant has mentioned in the application form. For example, if police verification is required, it will be conducted for a Delhi native living in Kolkata at the permanent address mentioned in the form.
The verification is done by the police station under whose jurisdiction the applicant's address falls. An officer verifies the details submitted in the application form such as the applicant's name, age and address. This is done in person, with the officer visiting the address as mentioned in the application form.
What to do in case of failed passport police verification? In case of failed passport police verification, the applicant is advised to contact the Regional Passport Office(RPO) along with his/her passport reference file number and request a re-verification.
To do that, you can approach the police station in your area personally and ask for tenant verification forms. The duly filled documents that would have all the details of you and your would-be tenants should be submitted with the police. On the website of most police stations, you could download the form.
It is advised to carry original and self-attested copies of parents passport to Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), in case parents possess passport. For minor applicants, documents can be attested by parents. The minor applicant is eligible for Non-ECR till he/she attains the age of 18 years.
If your passport is misplaced or simply unavailable, there are a few ways you can find out the number: Check international flight bookings or online airline profiles. Anyone with a frequent flier account on an airline should have an online profile where all travel details will be saved, including passport information.

The processing of Passport Express applications, including Northern Ireland Passport Express and Great Britain Passport Express, is paused. The turnaround time after we resume will be 6-8 weeks.
While the standard timeline for receiving the normal passport is 30 days from the date of submitting the application, typically it takes two to three weeks to get a fresh passport or get your passport renewed. If applying for Tatkal, you can get a passport within one to three days.
