Pit Bulls love to cuddle.
Even the most athletic Pit Bull will also have a sedentary side and crave being hugged and petted. For this reason and because they are so trainable, Pit Bulls can be excellent therapy dogs!Pit bulls, like all other types of dogs, do not suddenly snap without reason. Pit bulls bite more than any other breed. Pit bulls are inherently aggressive and more likely to attack their owners and other people.
MYTH: Pit Bulls have locking jaws. Reality: Pit Bulls do not have any special physical mechanism or enzyme that allows them to “lock” their jaws. However, one personality trait of the Pit Bull breed is determination.
While Pit Bulls are not good guard dogs because they just love people so much, they may intercede if someone threatens “their” humans. Pit Bulls are great with children. Pit Bulls are a loyal, people-oriented breed that thrive as part of the family. They are affectionate with both adults and children.
As time goes by, most pups will learn to settle and calm down. Even energetic dogs like pit bulls will do that. By the time they reach maturity, they'll be calmer than when they are pups. This will be around 12 to 18 months.
Basically, the more facial activity you display when greeting your Pit Bull, the more they know they are loved. If you are able to raise one eyebrow (sadly, I cannot) then make it the left one. Your pup will really feel special! Not just figuratively, actually press your weight against your Pit physically.
Pit Bulls are super loyal.
While Pit Bulls are not good guard dogs because they just love people so much, they may intercede if someone threatens “their” humans. Some pit bulls will simply not tolerate any other dogs, regardless of sex. A few pit bulls will remain dog friendly their entire lives, but they are a minority. This is also the reason that an adult pit bull should NOT be left alone with housemates or other dogs.
In dogs, this is called demand barking or nuisance barking and it is simply rude, pushy behavior. The dog may bark when he thinks it's time to eat, if he wants you to throw his toy, if you're not petting him, if he wants to come in the house, get out of his crate, or any other time when the dog isn't getting his way.
Boredom/Loneliness: Dogs are pack animals. Attention Seeking: Dogs often bark when they want something, such as going outside, playing, or getting a treat. Separation Anxiety/Compulsive Barking: Dogs with separation anxiety often bark excessively when left alone.

Just as humans stare into the eyes of someone they adore, dogs will stare at their owners to express affection. In fact, mutual staring between humans and dogs releases oxytocin, known as the love hormone. This chemical plays an important role in bonding and boosts feelings of love and trust.

Summary. If your dog is barking at nothing, it probably isn't because he's seen a ghost or going crazy. A dog's senses are much more sensitive than ours, so this behaviour is usually triggered by something we can't see or smell. Barking is a dog's way of communicating, so it's often a natural reaction.
There are a few reasons that puppies may bite. The most common one is that they're curious, and this is another way to explore their world. Sometimes pups may resort to biting out of frustration, or when they're frightened. If they precede the bite by a growl, they ate you because you ignored a warning.
Pit bulls are loyal, protective and people-oriented, but they do not reserve their loyalty for just one person. While they will show favor to their master, pit bulls can be rehomed and learn to bond with new people. In the family context, they've got plenty of love and loyalty to go around.
Brandau suspects an outside factor may have set the dogs off. "Something that caused them to become hyper, excited, then, they are being held back, possibly, then they turn and lash out on anything that moves," he said. Pit bulls are notorious for vicious, unprovoked attacks.
I don't recommend them for first-time dog owners. They are strong dogs, some of them have a history of dog fighting, and their tenacity is endless. But they are also extremely loving and excellent companions. In my opinion, Pit Bulls are the best dogs ever (although, I do love them all).

Use positive reinforcement.
Give your dog a simple command when he's ready, and if he follows your orders, then reward him with praise or his favorite treat. Rewarding him with positive reinforcement instead of punishing him when something goes wrong is the way to earn his trust on to tame his aggression. With non-human animals, smiling serves the same purpose! Pit bulls (really the majority of dog breeds) smile to let humans and other dogs know that they are not challenging anyone's dominance. Apes smile as well with the same meaning in mind, although not as flattering as a smile from a dog or human.
Though pit bulls can have increased aggression toward other dogs, female pit bulls are less likely to fight with other dogs than their male counterparts. This is especially true if the dogs aren't neutered.

Adult dogs generally sleep 12 – 14 hours/day, whereas puppies and older dogs require more, ranging from 15 – 18 hours/day. Unlike humans who generally receive eight hours of consecutive sleep, dogs sleep on and off throughout the day. In fact, 30% of a dog's day is resting, while 20% is consumed with activity.
The signs of a dominant and aggressive dog include staring; excessive low-range barking; snarling; growling and snapping; standing tall; holding ears erect; and/or carrying tail high and moving it stiffly from side to side. However, beware, often a dominant aggressive dog will give no sign before biting.
That said, when played correctly, tug-of-war is actually a great way to practice keeping control over your dog when they're excited. It's also good for their teeth and muscles. Dogs get a great workout and lots of stimulation from playing this game.
Pit bulls are probably the most feared dogs in the U.S. They're associated with dogfighting, attacking people and serving as guard dogs for drug dealers. Their bite is feared as being more dangerous than the bites of other dogs. Many cities and towns have passed laws making it illegal to own pit bulls.
But pit bull advocates and some experts say the dogs get a bad rap. They say the dogs are not inherently aggressive, but in many cases suffer at the hands of irresponsible owners drawn to the dog's macho image who encourage aggression for fighting and protection.
Just like any other dog you see, the dog picks you. From what I have found most pitbulls owners are just like their dogs. They look rough, they seem tough, but once you get past that they are loyal, trustworthy, an intelligent. Much like owning any medium to large size terrier.
Although Pit bulls are sometimes bred to kill, they are really fun loving dogs and will make you happy, and therefore Pit Bulls should be able to be kept as pets. First, Pit Bulls are fun loving dogs if you treat them right. Second, do not judge them because they have a bad reputation.
“Every dog is an individual,” Gorant says. “Pit bulls are just dogs and if they are not raised properly and socialized and treated right, they can have behavior problems. But they aren't any more problematic than any other breed by nature.”
