Which car is faster? BMW M3 vs M4. Given that both cars utilize an identical engine and drivetrain in the current generation, depending on the transmission you choose, the M4 would be the faster car due to its weight loss over the M3.

The E36 is a well built and long lasting car that anyone can hop into and enjoy. They're fairly easy to work on with some mechanical know-how and parts are extremely cheap and easy to come by.

M3/M4 is faster over the ground and faster on a racetrack.

However, currently, BMW doesn't offer the M3, discontinuing it after the 2018 model year, a victim of new WLTP emissions regulations. The M4 is still around, and both are set to get replacements soon. According to a new report from Car and Driver, the next-generation BMW M3 and M4 will debut next year as 2021 models.

Great handling coupled with great power, a compliant ride, incredible handling capabilities and endurance for everyday use and then use on the track. The E46 M3 came with it all. The BMW S65 is a naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine which was produced from 2007–2013. Its main use was in the BMW M3 (where it replaced the BMW S54 straight-six engine). There is no direct replacement for the S65, since the following generation of M3 switched to a turbocharged straight-six engine (the BMW S55).
BMW sounds committed to making that a reality, too; the next M3 will continue to offer a manual transmission. The new M3 features a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six that will be available in two states of tune, making 473 and 503 horsepower.
