Ambuthirtha is a mountain located 15 km (9 mi) from the village of Thirthahalli, Shimoga District of the state of Karnataka, India. It is the headwaters of the Sharavathi river.
Narmada is the largest west flowing river of the peninsular India. Narmada flows westwards through a rift valley between the Vindhyan Range on the north and the Satpura Range on the south. It rises from Maikala range near Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh, at an elevation of about 1057 m.

Named after Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, the KRS dam was built by the chief engineer of Mysore, Sir M. Visvesvaraya, under his rule. The KRS dam was built in 1924 across the Cauvery river, near the conjunction of three rivers, namely Cauvery, Hemavathi and Lakshmana Theertha.

Tungabhadra Dam, set up across river Tungabhadra, is one of the chief attractions of the town of Hospet. The multi-purpose reservoir was built by Dr. Thirumalai Iyengar, an engineer from Chennai. The dam has a storage capacity of 135 thousand million cubic feet.
