The position of your BT Hub in your home can affect the strength of your wi-fi signal and the speed of your broadband, so check it's in the best position possible. Solid surfaces like walls and doors can slow down the wi-fi signal, so try and reduce the number of walls it has to go through.

There are two versions of the BT Home Hub 2.0, the A and the B model. The hardware contained within the Home Hub 2.0A was manufactured by Thomson SpeedTouch, who had bought out Inventel and all their hardware and software rights.
In the BT Complete Wi-Fi system the router is part of the system, with the extenders talking to the Smart Hub 2 wirelessly, rather than needing an Ethernet connection. That means your first Disc can be where you need it, rather than next to your router which is often the case with secondary systems.

The company claims the Smart Hub's seven antenna setup will let it push signal as far as 500 meters unobstructed and up to 350 meters through one wall.

Am I eligible for a free BT upgrade? You can't apply to get your Wi-Fi upgraded for free, but if you are eligible BT will send you a letter or email to confirm. You'll then be sent a new broadband hub sent to your address with instructions on how to install it.
What features does the BT Smart Hub have? For a start, the Wi-Fi is the best a BT-branded router has ever had. It's dual-band, broadcasting on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and has the latest wireless standard (802.11ac) on both.
Configure your own router for BT Infinity. With BT Infinity service you normally have two devices provided by BT: OpenReach VDSL modem and BT Home Hub Wireless Router. If you want to use your own router you have two options: You can replace both BT devices with a single VDSL capable router.
What does the BT Smart Hub look like? It looks like a big flat slab going for a walk. The Smart Hub is quite a bit bigger than the two previous Home Hubs - while it's similar in width and depth, it's a couple of inches taller. That's apparently because the top bit is crammed full of Wi-Fi goodness.

The BT Smart Hub is hands down the best router the company has ever made. It might not look like much, but it's fast, has decent range and is easy to use.
Re: Superfast Hub
Yes they are desgned to fit through a standard letterbox.BT will give you a Smart Hub for free if you contract, or re-contract, for a minimum of 18 months. BT's wholly-owned, but arm's length, subsidiary, Plusnet, is offering a rebadged version of the slightly older Home Hub 5 free to new customers and those who agree to re-contract with them.
The USB-A port was intended to be used when connecting your BT Fusion adapter to the Home Hub, and according to BT's site, this port "may be used for future developments". On older Hubs, there was a USB-B port, which could be used to connect directly to a PC. You need special Home Hub USB drivers available from BT.

In particular if you have it, that you aren't able to take full advantage of the faster BT Internet Connection Speed offered by Fibre or Superfast Broadband. BT will upgrade you to the Hub 4 free of charge. The BT Home Hub 4, Hub 5 and BT Smart Hub are dual band with two wireless frequencies for devices to connect to: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. However, not all dual band devices behave the same way and some device software does not cope well with a single SSID for both frequencies.

BT Smart Hubs are the UK's most powerful…
Designed to give you a swift and reliable connection, our Smart Hubs are the UK's most powerful compared to broadband routers from other big broadband providers. So you'll enjoy a fast wi-fi signal that goes further round your home.Generally, we recommend you upgrade to a new router every three to four years. Newer devices are probably using the 802.11ac standard, so you will get the fastest speeds at long distances with an 802.11ac router. If you hoard old devices, you will also get faster speeds and greater range.
Do I have to use the BT Hub or can I use different router? If you have copper broadband, you can use a different router but we don't recommend it because we can't give you any technical support for equipment you've bought elsewhere.
The Broadband light is flashing orange
This happens when your Hub can't connect to broadband. Check that your ADSL filters are correctly plugged in to all your phone sockets. If your Broadband light continues to flash, there may be a fault or interference on your line.
