Kitzbühel offers good options for beginners to learn skiing and snowboarding on a range of simple slopes. However, you should be prepared to take on more difficult sections, as the blue-marked slopes are not always directly accessible from lifts.
With just one ski pass, you can experience the large variety of ski runs in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and on the Kitzsteinhorn Kaprun.
You can also ski down to Pass Thurn or the village of Jochburg and take a bus back into town.

From its origins (in the 11th century), the village of Les Gets has had wood in its veins… The name “Les Gets” came from the local dialect words “gitte” or “giette” meaning the corridors used to send logs rapidly down the hillside.
Easily accessed from Morzine, Les Gets is a very pretty ski area – tree-lined runs in the Ranfoilly bowl and stunning panoramic views from the top of Mont Chery make this one of the best areas for cruising pistes with a backdrop. Read more in our guide to the Les Gets Ski Area.
Value (Global): 4.4. (1) Overall, Les Gets is one of the most expensive ski resorts in the world, (3) overall it offers pretty average value for money compared to resorts from other countries, (5) internationally the resort offers excellent value for money.

Obergurgl Ski ResortAlmost all the ski area sits above 2000m and most is well above this, which, coupled with a powerful snowmaking system, ensures that Obergurgl possesses one of the longest and most reliable seasons in the Alps.
Snow is quite common everywhere, except in the area of Vienna, where it is rarer. The lowest temperatures have been recorded after outbreaks of cold air masses from Russia: in these cases, the temperature can plunge to -20 °C (-4 °F) or even lower. Summer in Austria is warm during the day, with generally cool nights.
It is not possible to access the Kitzbuhel/Kirchberg skiing area directly from Westendorf. You can ski down from Westendorf to the valley station between the town of Kirchberg and the village of Aschau and then take a skibus to the Kirchberg piste area.
The coldest month in Austria is usually January. The winter snow cover lasts from late December through March in the valleys, from November through May at about 5,905 ft or 1,800 m, and becomes in many years permanent above about 8,202 ft or 2,500 m. Temperatures begin to rise again in February.
