Hardy lake has a sandy beach with a huge lake. There's a spot where you can swim. You can rent boats to enjoy yourself out on the water. There is a playground and a fishing dock.

It has hiking trails, beach, picnic area, and 2 campgrounds. Hunting is allowed during normal hunting seasons which include deer and wild turkey hunting.
Amenities. The barebones cabins include air conditioning since temperatures often soar in the summer. The cabins are available from April to the end of October, so electric heaters are also available for use when temperatures cool down.

The dam was constructed on Quick's Creek in 1970 for water supply and outdoor recreation. Hardy Lake was constructed in accordance with a long-range program developed by the Stucker Fork Conservancy District of Scott County to provide water for the surrounding community.

The lake is located just south of the historic towns of French Lick and West Baden, and just east of historic Jasper.
The lake is nestled in the rolling hills and woodlands of south central Indiana, about 10 miles southeast of Bloomington. The dam is on Salt Creek, a tributary of the East Fork of White River. Most of the lake area lies in Monroe County, with a smaller area in Brown and Jackson counties.
