Saratoga Springs is known as “the Queen of the Spas.” It has a rich heritage as a health resort and gambling center for much of the 19th and 20th centuries. During the Paleozoic Era, a series of faults or cracks split the underlying bedrock, creating fissures through which water forced its way to the surface.

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced, as of January 1, Aqueduct Racetrack will be open to the public Wednesday through Sunday.
Rome was founded in 753 BC along the banks of the Tiber River. 400 years later the Tiber was so polluted, the city needed to find a new water supply. By the year 226 (AD) there were 11 aqueducts bringing in (around) 300 million gallons of water a day to the city of Rome.
Aqueduct race track opened on September 27, 1894 in Queens, New York.
The main track (dirt) has a circumference of 1 1⁄8 miles (1.8 km). Inside of the main track are two courses: the 1 mile (1.6 km) Main Turf Course, and the Inner Turf Course measuring 7.065 furlongs (1.421 km).
