How long does a rat live?
Can you keep two male rats together? Yes - both entire male and female rats will live happily in single-sex groups, and neutered males can live with either males or females. However, if you keep entire males with females, they will usually breed constantly. Neutered male rats can live with male or female rats.

Large pinky mice are generally 3-4 days old and vary in size from 0.50”- 1.00” long, not including tail length and weigh 2.50-2.99 grams. They are called pinkies because they appear pink in color, as they have not formed a coat of fur yet.
if they want to eat two they will. it won't hurt your snake as long as you are not over doing it and they look like they swallowed a football every day every week. some bp's grow fast and some don't as long as your's is eating weekly, no problems. you can't have just one!
As with all wildlife, its best to leave babies alone unless you are certain they are in immediate danger or mum can't come back. Sometimes you'll know mum is dead, or the nest has been disturbed in a way that place's the babies at immediate risk.
What Does a Baby Rat Look Like? On the day they're born, rat pups are small enough to fit on a teaspoon. Their eyes are tightly sealed, and their ears are stuck flat against the side of their head. They have baby teeth and whiskers, but no fur or pigment in their skin, so they appear bright pink.
Newborn rats normally nurse about every 3 hours. You'll need to feed pinkies every 3-4 hours during the day and once in the middle of the night for the first week and every 4-5 hours the second week. Feeding too often will prevent proper digestion. However, getting the formula in baby rats can be a challenge.
Keep the cage very warm and dark. Gallon plastic jugs filled with HOT water, around the outside of the cage, then drape towels over the cage. Always put the babies back in the nest, together, after feeding. Mom may very well turn into a good Mom if you can just keep them alive in the meanwhile.
Once the babies are all born the mother will generally retrieve all of them and put them in the nest where she can keep them warm and safe. She will usually pick them up by the nape of the neck or the back. The mother generally will notice this and return it to the nest.
After a gestation period of 21 to 26 days, babies that weigh only around 6 to 8 grams (. 21 to . 28 ounces) are born, according to the American Fancy Rat and Mouse Association.
Make sure fresh water is also available at all times as they will start to drink from a bottle. Give fresh meals each time, taking out any uneaten foods. You will also need to clean them up after they eat as they are very messy eaters.

A mature mouse can be distinguished from a young rat by its larger ears and longer tail compared to its body length than the rat. Dwarf is a recessive gene that the rat has to have to be a dwarf. Being recessive it also has to come from both parents. Some rats are naturally petite. Other times the rat may have been a runt or taken from mom too early or have serious health issues that just stunted it's development making it much smaller.
Rats never stop growing. They will continue to do so their entire life. They don't, however, usually live more than 2 or 3 years. This doesn't give them enough time to grow incredibly large.
Alright so there's 2 ways to get pet rats, from a breeder and from a feeder bin. Feeder rats come from a feeder bin, meaning they are sold cheaply and their “purpose” is to get eaten by snakes and other rodent-eating reptiles. They make great pets, just as breeder rats do, and should not be looked over.
Rats need preventive medical care. So if you want an intelligent, interactive, entertaining and easily trainable pet, consider a pet rat. Rats may not live as long as dogs and cats, but the time you do have with them will be thoroughly rewarding.
