Quick Notes. If your similarity index is high and you want to reduce it, check that: (a) Quotation marks (“”) are used around every quote and the source is cited, (b) you are not over-using quotations, and (c) your own words are not too similar to the original text.
How do I see the Similarity Report in Turnitin?
- Sign into Learning@Griffith.
- Navigate to the specific course and find the Turnitin assignment submission link where you submitted your assignment (generally in the Assessment folder)
- Click Submit / View Assignment.

For your first three resubmissions, while reports should be generated immediately, they could take up to 24 hours to generate. While there no universally specified similarity score, the widely acceptable Turnitin percentage is less than 10%. However, this varies with institutions. Some universities accept Turnitin scores of 10% and below, while others entertain 15% or even more if the sources are well cited.
