There are two ways to get to Pavones from San Jose, by plane or by land. We highly recommend flying. Nearly all of our guests fly and taxi to Pavones. By plane: The plane ride from San Jose to Golfito takes one hour and costs $114 one-way including taxes and fees.
From Puerto Jimenez:Again, day tours are the most popular way to experience the park from Corcovado. Day Tours take visitors to La Leona station. You will travel by car to Carate and walk through the forest and along a beach path to reach the ranger station.
Getting there: Most travellers fly to Costa Rica's international airport in San Jose (SJO). From there, you can reach the Osa Peninsula in 5-6 hours by car. Alternatively you can book a regional flight from San Jose to the Osa Peninsula airport in Drake Bay or Puerto Jimenez.
Buses leave daily from San José and pass through San Isidro de El General where passengers can also get on. Bus 699 leaves from San Jose at 6am and 12noon, taking about 10 hours to reach Puerto Jimenez. Bus 612 to Golfito can also be taken, which takes about 8 hours and leaves at 7am and 3pm.
Most travelers that head to the Osa Peninsula choose to fly. The local carrier, Sansa Air, offers flights from San José Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) daily. You can fly into Puerto Jimenez, the main hub, or Bahía Drake on the northwest of the peninsula.

It is well worth the trip and you often have the added value of seeing dolphins, whales or sea turtles. You cannot drive to Drake Bay. The only options are to fly in or take a boat from Sierpe.
Corcovado National Park is one of the largest lowland tropical rainforests in Central America and the best place in Costa Rica for wildlife watching. The park is over 163 square miles, covering nearly half of the Osa Peninsula, yet remains one of the most remote regions of Costa Rica.
To reach the Piedras Blancas National Park, take the Pan-American Highway to Palmar Sur and go some 20 miles further south to La Gamba village. From here you can easily access the entrance to this park. You can also fly or drive to either Golfito or Puerto Jimenez and then take a boat to the Park.
Travel time between San Jose and Manuel Antonio is roughly three hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Take Route 27 west toward Orotina, the fastest way – for about 30 – 40 minutes. Exit toward Route 34, following signs to Jaco. Expect to pay around $5 in tolls - payable only in Costa Rican currency.
