Change your default text style
- On your computer, open Gmail.
- In the top right, click Settings. See all settings.
- Scroll down to the "Default text style" section.
- Change the text in the box to be the style you want for your emails.
- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
Arial and Times New Roman will appear in the font drop-down from the menu bar if these fonts are detected as being locally installed on your computer.
You can change fonts in your documents on the Google Docs app for Android and iOS as well. This app lists all available fonts on a single screen for you to pick from. Launch the Google Docs app on your phone and open your document. Tap the pencil icon at the lower-right corner to edit your document.
When you create a new Google Doc--either in a browser or in a Google Docs mobile app--the default font size and font are 11 and Arial, respectively. The default size typically produces lines that are relatively readable, with between 80 and 100 characters per line.
To change the default font in Google Sheets.
- Click on Format.
- Click on Theme.
- Click on Customize.
- Select Font you want as standard.
- Click on Done.
To change text color:
- Select the text you want to modify.
- Click the Text color command from the toolbar. A drop-down menu of text colors appears.
- Select the circle of the text color you want to use. In our example, we'll choose blue.
- The text will change to the new color.
There are two ways you can stop Word in its tracks: Disable the feature by choosing AutoCorrect Options from the Tools menu, clicking the AutoFormat As You Type option, and then unchecking the Define Styles Based On Your Formatting option in the Automatically As You Type section.
Changing Built-In Font Settings
- In the “Settings” menu, scroll down and tap the “Display” option.

- In the “Font Size and Style” menu, tap the “Font Style” button.

Open the template or a document based on the template whose default settings you want to change. On the Format menu, click Font, and then click the Font tab. Make any changes that you want, and then click Default. Note: Most of the styles in Word are based on the Normal style.
Preventing Styles from Changing
- Select Style from the Format menu. Word displays the Style dialog box.
- In the list of styles, select a style name.
- Click on Modify.
- Make sure the Automatically Update check box, at the bottom of the dialog box, is clear.
- Click on OK to close the Modify Style dialog box.
- Click on Close to dismiss the Style dialog box.
How to change default font on Windows 10
- Open Settings.
- Click on Personalization.
- Click on Fonts.
- Click on the font family that you want to use.
- Open Start.
- Search for Notepad and click the top result to open the app.
To change the font color:
- Select the text you want to modify.
- Click the Font Color drop-down arrow on the Home tab. The Font Color menu appears.
- Move the mouse pointer over the various font colors. A live preview of the color will appear in the document.
- Select the font color you want to use.
Since the font changes during typing, most likely you haven't successfully changed the default font in your document. In the Styles pane (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S), click the Manage Styles icon and then click the Set Defaults tab. Specify the font that you want.
The feature works in Word 2016 and earlier.
- Select some text in your document that represents the formatting you want to change.
- On the Home tab, click the Editing group button > Select > Select All Text With Similar Formatting.
- Apply a different style or change the formatting for the selected text.
In typography, kerning is the process of adjusting the spacing between characters in a proportional font, usually to achieve a visually pleasing result. Kerning adjusts the space between individual letter forms, while tracking (letter-spacing) adjusts spacing uniformly over a range of characters.
Open a Google Doc as normal. Click "Add-ons" in the top menu bar, and choose "Get Add-ons" from the drop-down menu. Rather than scroll through all the add-ons to find "Show" it will probably be quickest to simply type "Show" in the "Search add-ons" box in the top right.
Change sharing permissions of shared folders
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- Select the folder that you want to change owners.
- At the top right, click Share .
- Click Advanced.
- To the right of the person's name, click the Down arrow .
- Click Is owner.
- Click Save changes.
- On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
- Highlight the text you want.
- At the top, select the font you want.
- Click Format Paragraph styles Normal text. Update 'Normal text' to match.
- With the text still highlighted, click Format Paragraph styles Options. Save as my default styles.
To make your essay appear longer, try increasing the font size to 12.1, 12.3, or 12.5. See which adjustment makes the biggest difference without being too noticeable. Increase the size of periods and commas. Hold down control+F on your keyboard.
If you are on a computer you can type ctrl-f and type in a period. Then it will highlight them. If you then change the font size to 14 you'll make your writing look a lot longer.
Click the "More" button at the bottom of the window, then select the "Format" button. Select "Font" from the menu that appears, and you will be able to customize the font, size, and style of the new punctuation marks.
Find and replace text
- Go to Home > Replace or press Ctrl+H.
- Enter the word or phrase you want to locate in the Find box.
- Enter your new text in the Replace box.
- Select Find Next until you come to the word you want to update.
- Choose Replace. To update all instances at once, choose Replace All.
