SANTA MONICA, CA—Santa Monica College (SMC) is offering free enrollment and $1,200 vouchers for textbooks to new, full-time students who graduated from any California high school this year.
Santa Monica College is a great college since it contains diverse associate programs and is helpful for transferring to many in-state, out-of-state, and private four year universities. You must have a minimum 3.2 GPA (UC transferable). If you are applying to UCLA in an impacted major (see list, below), you must have at least a 3.4 overall GPA, and at least a 3.0 GPA in your major prep. You have to be enrolled, but you can do so as a "non-degree-seeking student." You're not eligible for financial aid under this classification, and you may be restricted to a certain number of credit hours per semester, but you can take any class you want (within reason) and often be graded pass/fail.
