Power BI comes in three levels – Desktop, Pro, and Premium. The Desktop level is free for individual users, while the Pro plan costs $9.99 per user per month. The Premium plan starts at $4,995 a month per dedicated cloud compute and storage resource.

Get the latest version of Power BI Desktop from the Download Center. If you're running Windows 10, you can also get Power BI Desktop from the Microsoft Store. Regardless of how you install Power BI Desktop, the monthly versions are the same, although the version numbering may differ.How long will it take to complete the course? Power BI is very user friendly and free to play with. I also recommend learning some database stuff. If you build all your data on a database then you can connect any visualization tool to it. Gives you flexibility on a project to pivot if needed.
Like Reporting Services, Power BI Report Server is on premises. Power BI Report Server features are a superset of Reporting Services: everything you can do in Reporting Services, you can do with Power BI Report Server, along with support for Power BI reports.
For larger organizations, Power BI Premium may be your best option. While Power BI Pro is an individual license, Premium is an enterprise BI platform for everyone in your organization. Premium offers dedicated capacity to deliver more consistent performance and support larger data volumes in Power BI.
Power BI Service lets you view, manage, and configure reports and dashboards that you want to share with other Power BI users through a Web portal interface that is a SaaS application itself.

The Power BI publisher for Excel add-in is enabled by default, but if for some reason you don't see the Power BI ribbon tab in Excel, you'll need to enable it.
