Add the Photos app widget
- Press and hold a blank spot on your screen until the icons jiggle.
- Tap the plus sign that appears on the top right to open the Widget Gallery.
- Select the Photos widget from the popular spot at the top or from the list.
- Choose one of the three widget sizes and tap Add Widget.
Remember widgets? Apple has quietly killed off Dashboard, its widget app, in its forthcoming version of macOS Catalina which was announced at its WWDC yesterday. The discovery comes from Appleosophy, who found no sign of the feature when looking through the operating system, and no option to turn it off or on.
What are Mac widgets? Widgets are essentially mini applications that give you at-a-glance information, shortcuts to certain features, and quick access to functions and controls for things like music playback, your calendar and the weather. They are by no means new to the Mac.
You can add more widgets from Apple and third-party apps to the Notification Center. To add more widgets, open the “Notification Center” and scroll down to the bottom of the list. Then, click the “Edit Widgets” button.
Open the app, then add all your favorite pictures you want displayed as the widgets wallpaper. You can also edit how long an image is displayed until it rotates to the next one. once you do that, long press for jiggle/edit Home Screen mode. Press the + button and add the “photo widget” widget.
Widgets and apps are separate types of programs that run on an Android phone and they serve different purposes. Widgets are basically self-contained mini programs that live and run on the phone's home screen. Apps, on the other hand, are typically programs you tap open and run.
To add the widget, go to your iPhone's home screen and press and hold on an empty part of the screen to enter Jiggle mode. Here, tap the “+” button in the top-left corner. Select the Widgetsmith app from the list of widgets. Now, scroll over to the Medium widget and tap the “Add Widget” button.
App Widgets are miniature app views that can be embedded in other applications and receive regular updates. Widgets provide you with quick information without opening an app.
How to: Install Widgets on Android devices
- Step 1: Press and hold your finger on your Home screen.
- Step 2: Select the “Widgets” option on that menu.
- Step 3: Scroll to the right until you reach the widget you want to install.
- Step 4: Select the widget you're installing and VOILA!
To create a widget, you:
- Define a layout file.
- Create an XML file ( AppWidgetProviderInfo ) which describes the properties of the widget, e.g. size or the fixed update frequency.
- Create a BroadcastReceiver which is used to build the user interface of the widget.
- Enter the Widget configuration in the AndroidManifest.
App Widgets are miniature application views that can be embedded in other applications (such as the Home screen) and receive periodic updates. These views are referred to as Widgets in the user interface, and you can publish one with an App Widget provider.
How to Add Widgets to Android
- Press and hold a blank spot on your home screen until a menu pops up at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Widgets and scroll through the available options.
- Touch and hold the widget you want to add.
- Drag and drop it onto a free space on your home screen.
If you don't have “write” permission to the path you're currently in, you won't be able to create a new folder in that path.

How to change Mac app icons
- Open Finder and navigate to Applications.
- Click the app you'd like to change the icon for and hit command + I (or right-click and choose Get Info)
- Have an image for the new icon you'd like to use, jpg often works best.
- Copy the new image you'd like to use (command + C)
The simplest way to launch an app from the keyboard is to use Spotlight. Press the Spotlight keyboard shortcut (by default this is Command-Space) and type the first couple of letters of an app's name. For example, if you want to launch Safari, type SAF.
