- Turn the camera ON.
- Press the mode button repeatedly on front of the camera until “Set Up” appears on the screen.
- Select the red shutter button on top of the camera.
- Press the mode button repeatedly on front of the camera until “Reset Cam” is highlighted.
- Press the mode button to select “Reset Wi-Fi”
On your device, tap "Continue." Go to "Settings" and then "Wi-Fi" to connect to the camera's Wi-Fi network. Find the name of your camera listed in your available Wi-Fi networks. If you've never changed the camera name or Wi-Fi password the default password should be "goprohero".

If this is the first time you are pairing the camera to the App, please use the password "goprohero" which you can change after having paired your camera. If it is not the first time pairing the camera, we'll need to re-update the name and password of the camera by visiting the GoPro web page in the link below.
@hardystorm65175 - You don't need an external Internet connection in order to connect the camera to the GoPro app. The camera itself creates its own wifi signal that your phone can pair to so your phone can communicate with your camera.
Factory reset for HERO 3/3+ (black and silver edition)
- While The GoPro is off, press and hold down the shutter button (the top button).
- While still holding the shutter button, press the power button (on the front of the camera).
- The camera will now power on and it will reset to the original settings.
HERO+ and HERO+ LCD Pairing process

The app allows you to update the camera firmware to the latest one. GoPro App is the official app from GoPro that, among other things, lets you control your GoPro camera remotely with your Android. You can also use it to quickly share everything you've recorded and even take a look at other users' GoPro channels.
Method 1: You Won't Go Wrong With the GoPro App
- Download the free GoPro App.
- Connect your GoPro camera (HERO 5 and up) to the GoPro App within three days of shooting the footage.
- For manual transfer:
- Select the footage you want and import it to the app.
- Open Media > Local, then choose the clips that you want to use.
Tap on "
Add A Camera" (iOS), "Camera" (
Android).
Pick up your camera:
- Power on your camera.
- Open the utility drawer by swiping from the top to the bottom of the touch display, then select "Preferences."
- Select "Connections" and then tap on "Connect Device."
- Tap on "GoPro App" to put your camera in pairing mode.

Once done, reset the camera's Wi-Fi information: With the camera ON, press and hold the Settings button (on the side) for 2 seconds until the Wi-Fi Mode options appear. While still holding the side button, press and release the Power/Mode button (front).Delete the Bluetooth ID from your device settings. Remove the camera from the menu in the GoPro App. Forget the Wi-Fi on your mobile device. Reset the Wi-Fi on our camera.
To connect a GoPro to your computer, start by pressing the Power/Mode button to turn off your camera. Then, plug the small side of the USB cable into the port on the GoPro and connect the larger USB plug into the port on your computer.
If you've never changed the camera name or Wi-Fi password the default password should be "goprohero". Once connected to your camera's Wi-Fi network, go back to the GoPro App and you should be all set!
Press and hold the INFO/WI-FI button for 8-10 seconds; you will be prompted with "Reset Wi-Fi." The button can now be released. Press the INFO/WI-FI button once to highlight YES. Press the SHUTTER button once to select YES; the camera will prompt you that the reset has occurred, then turn off.
HERO3 and HERO3+ Pairing Process
- Open the GoPro App: From the home page, tap the icon in the top left corner. Tap on "Add A Camera" (iOS), "Camera" (Android) Tap "HERO3+ / 3 / 2."
- Go back to the GoPro App: On your device, tap "Continue." Go to "Settings" and then "Wi-Fi" to connect to the camera's Wi-Fi network.
GoPro HERO4 - Resetting WiFi Password
Press the mode button until “Reset Cam” is highlighted (near the bottom under the garbage can icon). Press the mode button to select “Reset Wi-Fi”. Press the shutter button to confirm. Press the mode button again to select “Reset”.Press the Mode button repeatedly, until "RESET" is highlighted at the bottom of the list, then press the Shutter button to select. Press the Mode button to highlight "RESET," then press the Shutter button to confirm and restore the camera to Factory Settings.
