Authorizing Canvas to use Google Drive LTI
- Click Google Drive in the course menu. The Log In page appears saying you need to authorize the integration.
- Click Authorize. The Choose an account window pops up.
- Choose your University Google account.
- Click Allow.
- Search or select a Folder or File.
- Click Open.
Direct Students to Link Their Canvas Account to Google DriveClick on the Google Drive button in the “Other Services” list. Google Drive will then move to the “Registered Services” column. Finally, remember to "Authorize" Canvas to link to the Google Drive account.
How do I sync Canvas with my Google Calendar?
- Log into mySUU.
- Select Canvas from the right hand tab.
- Select the Calendar.
- Select "Calendar Feed" under the undated tab.

Choose who to share with
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- Click the folder you want to share.
- Click Share .
- Under "People," type the email address or Google Group you want to share with.
- To choose how a person can use the folder, click the Down arrow .
- Click Send. An email is sent to people you shared with.
Google Drive Now Lets You Block Downloading or Copying of Shared Files. One of the best features of Google Drive is the ability to share and modify files with other users. Previously, if you shared a view-only file, Google would allow users to make a copy, download it locally, or print it out.
Usage
- File -> Manage Versions -> Save New Version.
- Publish -> Deploy as Web App.
- At Execute the app as, select “your account”
- At Who has access to the app, select “Anyone, even anonymous”
- Click “Deploy”
- Copy “Current web app URL”
- Click “OK”
View & open files
- Go to drive.google.com.
- Log into your Google account with your username and password.
- Double-click a file.
- If you open a Google Doc, Sheet, Slides presentation, Form, or Drawing, it will open using that application.
- If you open a video, PDF, Microsoft Office file, audio file, or photo, it will open in Google Drive.
You may have to restart the upload, and the best way to do that is to restart the Google Drive app. To do this on Android, go to “Settings -> Apps & notifications -> See all apps.” Find Drive in the list, tap “Force Stop,” then try your upload again.
The most common cause for this kind of problem is when a user is signed into multiple Google Accounts at the same time on the device/computer they are using. When you attempt to access the document, the system has to chose whether to allow you in using any of the accounts you are signed into.

- Select the file you want to share.
- Click Share or Share. Get link.
- Under “Get Link,” click Change to anyone with link.
- To decide what people can do with your public link when you share it, select Viewer, Commenter, or Editor.
- Click Done.
- Copy and paste the link in an email or any place you want to share it.
Clear your browser cache and cookies and then try to load your Drive files again. If you turned on offline access and you're still having trouble opening files, try turning it off and on again to resolve the issue. Go to Settings and next to Offline, uncheck or check the Sync to edit offline box to turn it on or off.

When you create collaborations, you can select individual users, groups, or both as part of a collaboration. If your collaboration options include Google Spreadsheets and Presentations in addition to Documents, you can select Google Drive (Apps). How do I link (or embed) a Google Document in a Canvas text box?
- Click File / Publish to the Web.
- Open the Published content & settings panel.
- Note Automatic Republish, then click.
- Click OK.
- Copy the Link, or Click on the Embed tab and Copy the Embed Code.
- Go to the Canvas text box and select the text you want to use as a link to the Google Document.
The file size limit for uploaded content is 500 MB.
- Open Course. In Global Navigation, click the Courses link [1], then click the name of the course you want to share the file from [2].
- Open Files.
- Choose Sharing Option.
- Choose Content License.
- Add Metadata.
- Add Grade/Level.
- Share to Commons.
