Nest Cameras cannot be used as fully- functioning webcams. However, a Nest camera's live stream can be shared with others online using a link or embedded in a webpage. There are several ways to share your Nest camera's video stream with others through the Google Home app or Nest app and online.
A small number of our customers may not be able to see their Google Nest camera in the Nest app, or they may appear in the wrong home. You should be able to move your other Nest products yourself. If you don't have a paid Nest Aware subscription, remove your cameras from the app and re-add them in the right home.
You can find the 12-digit serial number on the back of the camera, next to the QR code. Plug your camera in using the included USB power adapter before entering the serial number. If you're setting up a Nest Cam, you'll also need to enter the 6-digit Entry key. The Entry key is also next to the QR code.

To pair your mobile device (Android or iPhone) with Nest, download the Nest app. Then, connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your Nest thermostat (presumably your only home network). Then open the app and tap Sign Up for a Nest Account. Enter your e-mail address, create a username and password, then click "Sign up."
How to manage sharing your video stream
- Sign into the Nest web app with a computer (your camera's privacy settings can't be changed on a phone or tablet).
- Select the camera that you want to share and click on Settings in the top right corner of your browser window.
- Click on Camera sharing.
The Spaces view is especially useful if you have multiple Nest products in one or more rooms of your home. If you have more than one camera or Google Nest Detect in a room, you'll see the cameras and Detects grouped together in that location.
Wait for your Nest Cam to boot up and then select your new Wi-Fi network from the list. Enter in the password for your new Wi-Fi network and hit “Join”. Give it a few moments to connect to your Wi-Fi network. After that, your Nest Cam will be successfully connected.
Most Wi-Fi cameras and video doorbells offer a paid subscription that comes with more features, but also offer a free tier that works well enough for most use. However, that's not the case with Nest cameras at all.
Best answer: While useful without the subscription, you should invest in Nest Aware for your various Nest Cams. Doing so gives you the ability to store recordings in the cloud for use at a later time.

The Nest app for Android TV lets you view video from your Google Nest cameras and Dropcams. With Nest Aware, you can also watch each camera's video history. But you can also keep an eye on things with your television and the Nest app for Android TV.
Your Nest account won't be going away and you'll still be able to use the Nest app -- at least for now. Google hasn't announced any plans to get rid of either yet, but you'll be strongly encouraged to move from a Nest account to a Google account in the near future.
Solid Green status light shows that everything is okay and your Nest cam is working fine and is On. Slow pulsing of green status light means that someone is streaming the live video through Nest App or third party alternatives like Google Hub or Alexa.
