By default, anyone who has a Facebook profile is allowed to send you a message, even if he's not on your friend list. If you receive too many unwanted messages from non-friends, change your privacy settings so that only your confirmed friends are allowed to send a message.
In the panel on the left-hand side, click on the message you want to move. In the panel on the right-hand side, click the gear icon. Click on Ignore Messages in the dropdown menu. Accept the on-screen confirmation, and the message will move.
If a friend has read your message, you'll see a miniature version of their profile picture. If they haven't, you'll see a blue icon with a white checkmark indicating the message has been delivered, but not yet read.
Tap the contact name at the very top and on the contact's details page, scroll down. You will see an Ignore Messages option. Tap it, and accept the confirmation message. To undo this change, go to the People tab, and tap the Requests button at the top.
Select the Gear icon to the left of Messenger, at the top of the list of people who have sent you messages. Select Message Requests in the drop-down menu. Choose See Filtered Requests to see all the messages that Facebook has moved to this folder. Find the spam message you're looking for and accept the message request.
Originally Answered: why does Facebook messenger say invite friend to install messenger when they already have it installed and have chatted with me before? Thanks 4 A2A, When you see this thing “Invite your friend to Messenger” it means the user is no more using Messenger.
When you send a text message, it can be really frustrating not knowing if the other person has read it. But with Facebook Messenger, there's no need to speculate. Just look for a small version of your contact's photo to know they've seen it.
Now, when someone sends you a message who isn't at least a friend of a friend or has your phone number, it will show up as a 'message request,' which you can choose to accept or ignore. Previously, such messages would show up in a folder next to your inbox labelled 'other.
If you select the request for a read receipt, the receiver will be prompted to send a message after they open the message, if they respond yes to the notification, you get a read receipt.
Here's how to find the secret vault:
- Open the Facebook Messenger app.
- Tap "Settings" in the bottom right-hand corner.
- Select the "People" option.
- And then "Message Requests."
- Tap the "See filtered requests" option, which sits under any existing requests you have.
Facebook requests do not expire. You can accept a friend request or ignore it. You also have the option to hide the request and deal with it later. If you don't take action, the request remains active indefinitely.
If you get a message from someone who we think you might know, you'll get a message request. The message will show as delivered but the person will need to check their message requests to be able to find the message. At that point, they can Approve or Ignore the message.
