Unlike other DJI drone models, the Mavic Mini (as of 6.11. 2020) does not support the execution of autonomous waypoint missions. Thus Drone Harmony developed a new way of flying autonomous missions by controlling the drone directly, you may think of a computer pilot operating your remote controller.
The clear answer in our experience is you can rely on the Litchi app as much as you rely on the DJI Go App. It is very stable. Litchi is the go to alternative to the DJI Go and DJI Go4 app, as it offers a range of intelligent flight modes (automated flying) that is a lot more sophisticated than the DJI Go app.
Like the DJI Go app, DJI Fly offers some pre-programmed cinematic maneuvers for the Mavic Mini. These include Dronie, Circle (Orbit), Rocket and Helix – not as rich a set as those available with the Mavic Pro and Mavic 2 Pro, but definitely a good way to start.
Active Track is not a feature on the Mini 2 — though this could probably be added via firmware. From DJI's perspective, this is a natural feature to hold back because it will nudge some consumers toward the Mavic Air 2 instead.
Hi viktorw, currently, there is no plan on adding Active Track and Waypoints to Mavic Mini.
The Mavic Mini also has a GPS receiver to make sure that you get a very stable and smooth flight. The GPS receiver functionality also allows you to bring the drone back home in case you need to. Or when the battery runs low, the drone will automatically return home.
The Mavic Mini has a maximum distance of 4 kilometers or 2.5 miles.
Yes, you may use only the remote controller of the DJI Mavic Mini when flying the drone. It will fly just fine without a mobile device attached, but you won't have access to the intelligent flight modes though as they need the DJI Fly application.
As of the moment it is not possible to record with sound, using your mobile device as a mic when flying your DJI Mavic Mini. To record audio you need to edit the said video and add audio to the finished product.
Tap the three dots on the top right corner of the Camera View screen to open the overflow menu, which you can use to make important safety, control, camera, and transmission settings for your Mavic Mini or Mavic Air 2, and view your aircraft information.

The Mini 2 now allows you to record in resolutions up to 4K/30p, 2.7K/30p, and 1080p/60p at 100 Mbps. You can also zoom in on subjects while recording. Both 4K and 2.7K allow up to 2X zooming, and 1080p resolution allows you to hone in on a subject up to 4X, though the quality only remains lossless at 2X zoom.
Unfortunately the Mavic Mini can only use the DJI Fly app at the time of writing and won't be added to the Go4 app. You can try and download the DJI Fly app APK from the DJI website; but your phone needs to be 64bit and running a 64bit version of Android in order to get DJI Fly running.
The Litchi app sells for $22.99 on iTunes and for $24.99 on Google Play.
With Litchi, you can fly in enhanced warning zones and warning zones without doing anything. For other zones, you have to unlock in DJI Go, then you can fly with Litchi too (but only manual flights/take offs).
Litchi is an autonomous flight app that is compatible with most DJI drones including the Mavic 2 series, Inspire 2, and Phantom 4 Pro. Keep in mind that this update only works for the original Mavic Mini.

DJI GO 4.0 has been optimized for all of DJI's latest products. These include the Phantom 4,Mavic Pro, Phantom 4 Pro, and Inspire 2. It provides near real-time image transmission and camera settings adjustment, as well as editing and sharing of aerial imagery.
But, for no lag, and now that we have Litchi compatibility for the Mavic Mini, vr goggles are the way to go.

The FPV goggles can easily connect to the Mavic Pro and will not require any additional cables or connections, which basically makes this one of the easiest and best overall way to connect the drone to FPV goggles.
The DJI Goggles are designed for easy FPV flying, providing both seamless control and crystal clear views. All newer DJI aircraft models work seamlessly with the DJI Goggles. It works wirelessly with the Mavic Pro and supports everything from the Phantom 3 Advanced to the Inspire 2, through its HDMI port.
On release, the Mavic Air 2 does not work with DJI Goggles and there is nothing indicating that support will be added in the future.
