Unfortunately no. If you have iMovie on your iPad, create a project and import the time lapse video. After you add the video to the project, tap on it in the timeline. In the lower left corner, second from the left, there should be a speedometer icon which controls the playback speed.
Easy — open up your iPhone's camera app and tap on the start button, select the time-lapse shooting mode by swiping right until time lapse is selected, and your iPhone will start filming the time-lapse.
But instead of just adding a new feature to its existing app (available for iOS and Android ), the Facebook-owned company created a new, free iOS-only title called Hyperlapse. The new app has a simple interface that's little more than just a camera viewfinder.
Go to a video. Tap the video once, then tap More . Tap Playback Speed. Select the speed at which you'd like the video to play.
In the iMovie app on your Mac, select a clip in the timeline whose speed you want to change. To show the speed controls, click the Speed button. Choose either Slow or Fast from the Speed pop-up menu, and click a speed button to set the speed.
For one example, maybe you want to do time-lapse of clouds passing overhead and you want to find out how long you need to keep the camera rolling undisturbed to create a 30 second video at a frame rate of 30 fps with 5 seconds between shots (answer: 1.2 hours).
Create a slideshow project
- In the Photos app on your Mac, select the photos you want in your slideshow.
- Choose File > Create > Slideshow > Photos.
- Click the Slideshow pop-up menu and choose New Slideshow.
- Type a slideshow name in the Slideshow Name field, then click OK.
For time-lapse photography, a low ISO is best, since it will reduce photographic noise and graininess, but a low ISO requires a higher-light setting. If you want to shoot time-lapses in low-light settings, you'll need a higher ISO to make your camera more sensitive to light, but your video will come out grainier.
In Step 1: View & Trim, you can select Advanced Settings and check the Speed Up option. This is a great way to simulate a time-lapse look from your video files. When you check this option a slider appears that will allow you to speed up the video at different amounts by skipping frames.
You could create a time-lapse by recording one frame every second. When you play the movie, the frames recorded over a period of 24 seconds are played back in one second. So the recorded scene moves 24 times as fast as the real scene. One hour of recording would play back in (60/24 = ) 2.5 minutes.

This opens in a new window. Lu said that a recent 15-second time-lapse video he shot took up just 40 megabytes of storage space on his phone. Instagram says the introductory 15-second time-lapses shown in the Hyperlapse app take up even less space.
