There is no way to remove a person from WhatsApp without notify them. Since the group chat history is available in their chat list, the information will be notified there when he/she is removed from the group and will be notified to every other members in the group too.
You can only delete a group from your phone if you're a group admin and remove each participant. After removing all participants, you'll need to exit the group in order to see the delete group option.

Bigger groups are now available to all WhatsApp users on iOS and Android. The maximum number of people you can have in a WhatsApp group chat has increased to 256, rather than 100 as it was before. Larger groups will be good news for those users for whom 100 just wasn't big enough.
If you exit a group, you'll be removed from the group. However, you'll still see the group in your CHATS tab and be able to read the chat history. If you're the only group admin and you exit a group, a participant is chosen at random to become the new admin.
The number has been increased to 256, which seems to be an odd number to increase the limit to. This could be because of server and platform restrictions. Or this could be a testing stage for WhatsApp to see how the users and businesses make use of it, and gradually increase the member number.
To delete messages for everyone:

This is how a new group member gets to see a old Whatsapp group! Not a single old message can be viewed by any new member. All he/she could see is as given in the screenshot!
The other members always get a message when a person leaves. This means you'll still receive any messages sent to this group, but you won't notice because your phone won't vibrate or make a noise when there's a new message. On Android phones, open up the group, tap on the group subject and then on "Mute notifications".

So basically, you leave the group on a no-hard-feelings note with the admin. You may want to leave a group chat because of rude or offensive messages sent by just one or a couple of members. In this case, you could send an 'It's not you, it's me' message before you leave.
On Android phones, open up the group, tap on the group subject and then on "Mute notifications". You can also select the length of time you want to mute notifications for: a year, a week or even just eight hours.
