Howe set his sights on Philadelphia for a number of reasons. Philadelphia, of course, was the American capital and the meeting place of the Continental Congress. Howe also apparently hoped to draw Washington into a battle that might destroy the Continental Army once and for all.

Philadelphia is most famous for the Liberty Bell, Rocky, cheesesteaks, and the Mummers. Additionally, it is known for its revolutionary history in general, the top-notch Philadelphia Orchestra, and being the “City of Brotherly Love”.
Burgoyne is best known for his role in the American Revolutionary War. He designed an invasion scheme and was appointed to command a force moving south from Canada to split away New England and end the rebellion. Burgoyne advanced from Canada but his slow movement allowed the Americans to concentrate their forces.
On December 4, Gen. Sir William Howe, the commander-in-chief of British forces in North America, led a sizable contingent of troops out of Philadelphia in one last attempt to destroy Washington and the Continental Army before the onset of winter.

At Valley Forge, there were shortages of everything from food to clothing to medicine. Washington's men were sick from disease, hunger, and exposure. The Continental Army camped in crude log cabins and endured cold conditions while the Redcoats warmed themselves in colonial homes.

A newspaper in Daredevil states that hundreds of people died in the Battle of New York. However, Captain America: Civil War states that "only" 74 people died.
What did the battles in New York in 1776 show? British troops didn't live up to their reputation. American troops had much better morale and courage than British soldiers. The states got to keep whatever they confiscated from Loyalists.

The British warships dominated the river waterways that cut through New York City, rendering the American defense untenable. With so much land to cover, Washington made the fatal flaw of splitting his forces between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
