Brazil's armed forces are the second largest in the Americas, after the United States, and the largest in Latin America by the level of military equipment, with 334,500 active-duty troops and officers. The armed forces are expanding their presence in the Amazon under the Northern Corridor (Calha Norte) program.
Michael Beckley: First, the United States has a huge lead by the most important measures of national power. China is the only country that comes close, and America still has three times China's wealth and five times its military capabilities.
Like China, France, Russia and the United Kingdom; Germany and Japan have also been referred to as middle powers. In his 2014 publication Great Power Peace and American Primacy, Joshua Baron considers China, France, Russia, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States as the current great powers.
Traditionally, superpowers are preeminent among the great powers. The term was first applied in 1944 during World War II to the United States, the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union. Brazil is South America's most influential country, a rising economic power and one of the world's biggest democracies. Over the past few years it has made major strides in its efforts to raise millions out of poverty, although the gap between rich and poor remains wide.
Pakistan cannot (in its current geographical boundaries) become a super power. Pakistan has the potential of becoming an economical power such as Japan, Germany, UK etc. but it cannot become Russia, China or the US. Even becoming a Germany or Japan is a long shot.
India has become the fourth most powerful country in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the Sydney-based Lowy Institute's Asia Power Index for 2020, which ranks 26 nations and territories. India was on the fourth spot in the index after Japan.
The successor of the Soviet Union, Russia, and the United Kingdom are still regarded as Great Powers today with permanent seats on the UN Security Council. The United Kingdom continues to hold extensive global soft power, and Russia holds one of the largest nuclear weapons arsenals in the world.

The United States has retained its position as the most powerful country influencing the Asia-Pacific with a score of 81.6. It is followed by China (76.1) and Japan (41) at second and third spot respectively.
The US, Russia, and China remain the planet's most powerful countries even as other countries have seen their positions fall, according to this year's global power rankings.

China, India, and the United States will emerge as the world's three largest economies in 2050, with a total real U.S. dollar GDP of 70 percent more than the GDP of all the other G20 countries combined. The 1898 Treaty of Paris ending the war gave Cuba its independence and also ceded important Spanish possessions to the United States—notably Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and the small island of Guam. The United States was suddenly a colonial power with overseas dependencies.
India's current economic growth (as the world's fastest-growing major economy as of 2015) has improved its standing on the world's political stage, even though it is still a developing country, but one that is showing strong development. Many nations are moving to forge better relationships with India.
Russia's extensive mineral and energy resources are the largest such reserves in the world, making it one of the leading producers of oil and natural gas globally. The country is one of the five recognized nuclear weapons states.
Economists generally attribute much of China's rapid economic growth to two main factors: large-scale capital investment (financed by large domestic savings and foreign investment) and rapid productivity growth. These two factors appear to have gone together hand in hand.
Stability. Political stability is the prime reason behind China's emergence as a popular destination for manufacturing. The most important factor behind how China became an economic superpower is nothing but its education system. China has brought major reforms in education by making it more global and pragmatic.
China would have to get the bulk of its ground forces across the Himalayas as fast as possible, or the war would grind to a halt. Any halt to the Chinese advance would be a de facto win for India. China would have to completely capture the disputed territories and move into India to be able to claim victory.
