The meeting host can override anyone and everyone's microphone setting. They mute and unmute your mic. If the host mutes your mic, you cannot unmute it. If the host unmutes everyone, and your mic is muted, it simple allows you to unmute your mic, which you could not do before.
So, if someone is constantly typing during a Hangout session, their mic will be muted (like in below image) until, of course, they stop typing. Users will spot a new slider at the top right of every hangout, using which they can adjust their bandwidth preferences in real-time.
Try to go to windows settings, Let Microphone enable/allow apps to access setting on.. then check and open a google meeting .. this works on me.. both camera and microphone should be on allowed status.. see it if it works on your ends.
Use the Device ManagerRight-click on the Start Button and open Device Manager. In the Device Manager window, expand the Audio inputs and outputs section and you will see your Microphone listed there as one of the interfaces. Right click on Microphone and select Disable. A dialog box will prompt with a warning.
The reasons for audio keeps cutting out Windows 10 are various, including the faulty or incorrect drivers, Windows sound enhancement settings, computer speaker issues, etc.
To configure the shortcut to mute/unmute the mic, right-click the app's icon in the system tray and select 'Setup shortcut'. A small window will open. Click inside it and tap the key or keys you want to use to mute/unmute the mic.

Android: Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App permissions > Microphone and switch on the toggle for Zoom.
Right-click on the speaker icon in your system tray and select Recording Devices. Select your microphone in the settings dialogue that opens then click Properties and choose the Levels tab. There you can drag your mic volume to the lowest level on the left—or just click the speaker icon on the right to mute it.
Check what is the indicator showing when the user gets muted or cannot hear others. The indicator is on the upper right corner of the screen as the screenshot.

- From Chats, tap your profile picture.
- Tap Settings, scroll down and tap. Notifications.
- Toggle the following notification types on or off:
When you start or answer a direct call, your microphone is unmuted.
- To mute your microphone during a call, click or tap (Mute) in the call action bar. The microphone is turned off and the other participants cannot hear you.
- To unmute your microphone, click (Unmute) in the call action bar.
To mute yourself, click the Mute button (microphone). A red slash will appear over the microphone icon indicating that your audio is now off. To test your computer microphone and speakers, click the up arrow to the right of the microphone icon and select Audio Settings.
In your Zoom meeting, click on the "Mute" icon in the bottom left corner. Note: A hotkey can also be used to enable/disable microphone. Press ALT + A to enable/disable the microphone.
Make sure that the microphone or headset is connected correctly to your computer. On the Levels tab of the Microphone Properties window, adjust the Microphone and Microphone Boost sliders as needed, then select OK. Speak into your microphone while checking under Test your microphone to make sure your settings work.
Mac computer settings might prevent Meet from using the microphone. If this happens, restart Chrome Browser. If that doesn't work, restart your computer, then increase the microphone volume in your system's settings.
Change a site's camera & microphone permissions
- On your Android device, open the Chrome app .
- To the right of the address bar, tap More. Settings.
- Tap Site Settings.
- Tap Microphone or Camera.
- Tap to turn the microphone or camera on or off.
To mute yourself in a Microsoft Teams Meeting, click on the Microphone Icon while in the Meeting screen.
A. The audio controls are at the bottom of the screen. You can click the mute/unmute button to mute or unmute yourself at any time.
During your call, look at the microphone button – If there's a line through the microphone (as shown below) then you are currently on mute (silenced). Just click the button to unmute yourself! The below microphone icon is good!
Microphone blockers are inserted into your device's audio jack. This is why mic blockers do not work. Using a mic blocker to secure your audio privacy is like locking your front door but leaving open a window. We don't want to sell a solution that is ineffective against hackers eavesdropping on your device.
Giving Permission to Skype on AndroidNavigate to your Android device's Settings. Tap Applications then Application Manager. Make sure Skype has access to your device's microphone. If it does not, you may need to reinstall the App.
