In an interview with IGN, Rian Johnson explains why Luke uses Anakin's blue lightsaber instead of his green saber in The Last Jedi, saying it was meant to have "maximum effect" on Kylo Ren. "[Luke] is basically tailoring this projection to have maximum effect on Kylo.
Behind the scenes
In the original 1982 teaser trailer for Return of the Jedi, the color of the lightsaber was blue. The decision to change the color of the lightsaber from blue to green was made to make Luke's blade contrast with the blue sky of Tatooine and make it more visible during the skirmish at Carkoon.Maze Kanata Got the Saber through Random Trade
This theory goes that when Luke lost his lightsaber in The Empire Strikes Back, a scavenger retrieved it from the chasm on Cloud City. Knowing Maz as a collector of such items, he then took it to her castle to sell it to her.Luke's lightsaber was green because it popped against the blue sky — and because, by visually differentiating his new lightsaber from his old one, the filmmakers were able to show us that Luke had become his own man.
What does Kylo Ren actually want? (Spoilers) In TLJ, we hear that Kylo wants to "let the past die". We also see him kill his own Dark Side mentor. Finally, in his conversation with Rey, he mentions abandoning everything: Sith, Jedi, Empire, Rebellion, before asking her to join him in creating a new order.
At the heart of every lightsaber is a Kyber crystal. Therefore, the lightsaber in question carries close links to Anakin Skywalker (but not Darth Vader), Luke Skywalker, and possibly even Obi-Wan Kenobi. The lightsaber calls to Rey, because the crystal wants to be united with her.
Luke Skywalker lost the lightsaber in a duel with Darth Vader in the Cloud City on the planet Bespin. Vader cut off Luke's hand at the wrist, and the hand (still holding the lightsaber) fell down the air shafts of Cloud City. The lightsaber was then recovered by a scavenger.
Dialogue briefly clarifies that Rey's father was the Palpatine, but that distinction is never relevant to the plot.
Rey Palpatine
Yes, Rey's destiny is finally revealed in The Rise of Skywalker, her origin story finally told: she is the daughter of Palpatine's unnamed son (played by Billy Howle). Rey is a Palpatine and the heir to her grandfather's Sith throne. The galaxy is her birthright if she chooses to take it.| Han Solo |

Rey is Luke Skywalker's daughter.
She's a natural pilot, just like the other Skywalkers, is naturally strong in the Force, and Luke's lightsaber calls out to her in "The Force Awakens." At the film's end, it looks like Luke instantly recognizes Rey and has a connection with the young girl.In the films, it's mostly from frustration and feelings of inadequacy. He wants to kill his parents, but know there's really no reason for him to. He wants to rule the galaxy, but has no idea how. He wants Snoke to teach him to be a master, but Snoke just browbeats him.
Daisy Ridley Confirms Kylo Ren and Rey Will Have a Relationship in 'The Rise of Skywalker' If there's one thing that Star Wars fans love, it's fan theories. A popular interpretation of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi posits that Kylo Ren and Rey have a romantic attraction to each other.
The two things that do separate them are fan service and pacing. Both explain the kiss. Yes, part of the kiss was to satisfy the Reylos: the fans who ship Rey and Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. They aren't bad or good people; they're Star Wars fans who wanted something, and TROS was Fan Service Christmas.
The theory goes on to state that Finn is actually Mace Windu's son, which is why Snoke has Kylo Ren take such an interest in him. Presumably, this means he's not human, but he's definitely taller than Mace Windu was by a lot.
That son, whose name is never mentioned, and his wife, played by a tragically underutilized Jodie Comer of Killing Eve, are Rey's parents. The Emperor ordered his granddaughter's death when he sensed how powerful she would become, so her parents went incognito, hid her away, and died refusing to give her up.
Ben Solo Could Have Been Resurrected In The Rise Of Skywalker. It might already be outlandish to suggest that Ben Solo could be resurrected in future Star Wars movies, but it's also possible the character was subtly killed and brought back to life in The Rise of Skywalker, right before the audience's eyes.
Finn uses this moment to express that there's something he “never told Rey,” though the group gets sucked down before he can. That Finn was going to confess his love for Rey based on a longstanding crush he's had on her pretty much since the first moment they met in The Force Awakens.
Rey Is The Granddaughter Of Emperor Palpatine
That means Rey herself is Palpatine's granddaughter, a direct descendent of perhaps the most powerful Sith to have ever lived, and the overarching villain of the Skywalker Saga. This is revealed to Rey through Kylo Ren, much like the identity of her parents was.Yellow sabers are used by the Jedi Temple Guard—which is basically a group of distinguished, force-sensitive bodyguards who protect the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Republic (kind of like the queen's guard but Star Wars!).
confirmed that what Finn wanted to tell Rey was that he's force sensitive!" Most people's snap-thought was that Finn wanted to tell Rey he loved her. The Force Awakens teased Finn having a crush on Rey, but then the The Last Jedi introduced shirtless Adam Driver. There was no going back, even for Disney.
According to Twitter user @ar1aster who was at an Academy screening for the film, "The Rise of Skywalker" director J.J. Abrams confirmed Finn wanted to tell Rey he was Force sensitive to fans. There were a few teases throughout the film that Finn may be Force sensitive.
Throughout the movie Ren frequently expresses his desire to be as evil as his grandfather, Darth Vader, and he seems to idolize the dark lord — even though Darth Vader (spoiler alert!) turned good at the end of Episode VI. At the end of "Return of the Jedi," Vader showed he wasn't all dark.
Kylo Ren may be powerful, but he is less than a match for the dark side of the force as yielded by his grandfather. It's pretty clear, at least in this fan's mind, that Darth Vader reigns supreme. I think Kylo Ren would be in awe of the fact that he's seeing his grandfather in the flesh.
At first, Vader wanted to keep Luke alive so that he could grow stronger and that they could both strike down Palpatine and rule the galaxy. But then Anakin came crawling back inside of Vader causing him to once again love. Anakin's love is stronger than Vader's hate.
Vader then died at the hands of the furious Sidious when he unleashes his devastating Force Lightning on the helpless Luke, Vader had a change of heart, lifted Sidious and tossed him down the shaft to his death. However, the Force Lightening damaged Vader's suit beyond repair and he died for lack of oxygen.
As in the movie, Luke Skywalker dies after expending his energy by Force projecting himself on Crait, for a final confrontation with his wayward pupil, Kylo Ren. THE FORCE KILLED LUKE.
turned good at the end of Episode VI. At the end of "Return of the Jedi," Vader showed he wasn't all dark. In the film's novelization, written by Alan Dean Foster, it is revealed that both Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke know the truth about what happened between Palpatine and Vader on the Death Star.
During the battle, Anakin, who had been known as the Sith Lord Darth Vader, was redeemed by Luke and brought balance to the Force. However, the redemption cost Anakin his life, having been mortally wounded by the Emperor, Darth Sidious, while killing his former Master.
STAR WARS villain Darth Vader was not killed by the Emperor's lightening, it was his return to the Light Side of the Force that ended his life. Fans have always struggled with the devastation that Luke's father dies in the very moment that he is finally restored as Anakin.
One of the longest-running mysteries of Star Wars Rebels was of what happened to Ahsoka Tano in the Season 2 finale after she faced off against Darth Vader. As it turns out, Ahsoka did indeed survive the duel against Vader on Malachor, but it wasn't because she somehow managed to outfight him.
