Access router command line interface using Windows laptop

Connecting the Console. Connect an HDMI cable to both the console and the monitor. If you're using HDMI, you'll have the easiest time connecting your console. Plug the HDMI cable into your console and the other end into your monitor.

Log in to a Network Switch via Telnet
- Connect the management port of the switch to the RJ45 port of the PC with an Ethernet cable like Cat5e and Cat6 cables.
- Power on the PC.
- Type the user name and password (admin/admin) in the login interface, then move on to the configuration menu as shown below.
Configure putty to be able to communicate with the router over the USB port ( /dev/ttyUSB0 ).
- run sudo putty.
- Click on Serial for the Connection Type:
- Set the serial line to /dev/ttyUSB0.
- Click on Keyboard, then set backspace key to Control-H.
- Click on Session . Click on Default Settings. Click Save .
- Click Open .
To connect a console to the switch, use the console cable shipped with the switch and connect a PC or VT-100 terminal to the console serial port. The PC or terminal then functions as a management console connected directly to the switch.
Follow these steps to manage the switch via console port:

- Step 3 Launching PuTTY and Configuring the PuTTY Session.
- Step 4 Launching the CLI.
When you log in for the first time, the Accessing Cisco Switch <Model Number> <Hostname> page appears. On the Accessing Cisco Switch page, click the Wireless Web GUI link to access switch web GUI Home page. Choose Configuration > Wizard to perform all steps that you need to configure the switch initially.
