The Xbox One might be the less powerful of the Xbox One family of consoles, but it's still a gaming beast in its own right. A shadow of the console it unveiled at E3 2013, the Xbox One is still better for it. It's now faster, more powerful and boasts enough base features to make even Sony look over its shoulder.
Microsoft discontinued the original Xbox One after it released the Xbox One S, it has confirmed. Goodnight, sweet prince. The Xbox One S, which launched in August 2016, effectively replaced the original Xbox One. Any you see available to buy will be from shops clearing stock or second hand.

The original Xbox One has no 4K capabilities, but the Xbox One S and Xbox One X can stream video and play games in 4K. The Xbox One X is the only model to have "native" 4K, however, which means that its 4K resolution is higher quality than the One S, which has "upscaled" 4K.

The Xbox One can play most Xbox 360 games, thanks to the backward compatibility features Microsoft built into the system. Many games from the original Xbox can also be played on the Xbox One simply by inserting the game disc, or completing a digital download of the older game.
Besides promising 60fps, HDR, 4K, and ray tracing we know Project Scarlett and PS5 will be backward compatible so the games you own now will work on the new consoles—and should run even better than they do now. So, if you already own a console here is what you should do. You should wait.

Xbox One S can upscale games to 4K
It means the Xbox One S will be able to offer gaming at a higher resolution than its predecessor, although it won't quite be as good as native 4K. In our review, we found the Xbox One S is good at upscaling games and 4K video content – better than the TV we tested on.
