If you don't own a PS1 but have games/want to buy any, all PS3 models can play PS1 discs so that's a nice bonus. Especially if you get the early model that was backwards compatible with the PS2. Yes, PS3 in 2020 is amazing. Killzone, Uncharted & Resistance is enough reason to play.

The biggest difference between the Super Slim and previous PS3 models is the power supply (PSU, or power supply unit). The 190W PSU uses half the power of the original PS3, which besides being one of the largest game consoles in history also has a massive 380W PSU.
It's based on preference, both are good consoles. One major thing that the fat PS2 has that the Slim doesn't is the hard drive bay.
