The Canary Islands are often on my radar, but the weather on islands like Tenerife and Gran Canaria is reliably warmer in October and November. Come March however, those temperatures drop to a high of about 19 degrees, which is pleasant enough but it's not quite warm enough to be sunbathing weather.

Lying off the north-west coast of Morocco, the Canary Islands are in fact the tips of an enormous volcanic mountain range that lies deep beneath the Atlantic Ocean. Much of Tenerife and Gran Canaria are overrun with tacky beach resorts, clubs and bars, though inland it is still possible to escape the commercialism.
Black Gold. The Canary Islands are often associated with black sand. But out of 90 plus beaches on Lanzarote only a handful are comprised of dark volcanic grains. And these wild and natural beaches are well worth visiting as they are some of the most beautiful on the island.
Playa Blanca is extremely safe,especially the Faro Park area. The town itself is one of the safest quietest places on the island,as there are few late night bars or clubs,I would¨nt worry about going round town alone at night.
In general Tenerife is cheaper.. most places do a 3 course meal anything from 8 euros to 15 euros..we recently went to Mall Orca..and found it a lot dearer than Tenerife.
Although it might seem logical, they're actually not named for the little yellow bird commonly known as the canary. Instead, the islands get their name from a Latin term — Insula Canaria — which means “Island of the Dogs." The ancient Romans who first visited the islands gave them this name.
