How to enable iMessage on iPhone
- In Settings, scroll until you find "Messages" and tap. In Settings, find Messages.
- At the top of the screen, find iMessage. At the top, find the iMessage toggle.
- If the slider on the right is green, iMessage is already enabled. If not, tap the slider to enable iMessage.
Go to Settings > Messages and make sure that iMessage is on. In the "You can receive iMessages" section, make sure that your phone number and Apple ID are selected. Go to Settings > FaceTime and make sure that your phone number and Apple ID are selected in the "You can be reached by FaceTime at" section.

Although iMessage is enabled, your iPhone may say, 'iMessage needs to be enabled to send this message. ' In this situation, turning iMessage off and then on can solve the problem. Open Settings and tap Messages. Follow step 1 and toggle on iMessage again.
Go to your iPhone's settings. Go to your phone's iMessage section, then tap on the Send and Receive section. Simply click on the option which shows the New Conversation From. Tap the phone number instead of showing the email.
Send messages as texts only when iMessage is unavailable
- Go to Settings > Messages.

Turn off and restart iMessage and FaceTime
- Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.

- Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.
Change message notifications on iPhone
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages.

How to Mention Someone in iMessage
- When you're composing the message, just compose it as you normally would, and then type the name of the person as it is saved in your contacts to mention them.
- Tap on the name or anywhere else in the message box, and their contact (name and photo/ initials) would appear.

A: On an iPhone, your device's phone number will always appear in your Messages and FaceTime settings. This number normally appears greyed out and you cannot select or de-select it since it is usually enabled automatically by the iMessage and FaceTime cellular activation process.

Typically when your messages disappear it means your storage is full. Check Settings > General > iPhone Storage and never allow the free space to fall below 10% of the iPhone's total storage space. You may recover messages that were present when the last iPhone backup occurred by restoring that backup.
iMessage not saying “Delivered†simply means the messages has not yet been successfully delivered to the recipient's device due to some reasons. Reasons could be: their phone not having available Wi-Fi or cellular data networks, they have their iPhone off or on Do Not Disturb mode, etc.
Go into the Settings app on your iPhone, then scroll down until you find Messages. Assuming iMessage is on — which it presumably will be — the next step is to go into Text Message Forwarding. Here you should see compatible devices signed into the same Apple ID, and you can toggle them on and off at will.
