The Insert > Pictures option is grayed out.If you can't select Pictures from the Insert tab on the ribbon, your message is probably in plain text format. Change your message format to HTML or rich text to insert pictures. You can check your message format by looking at the title bar of the message.
If you can't attach files in Outlook, you can change the sharing preferences and check if it resolves the issue or not. It is quite easy when you are using the Outlook.com to send an email. To get started, open the Settings panel and visit Mail > Attachments. From here, you can change your sharing preferences.
For example, say “Please, find the attached file you requested yesterday.” When you don't want to specify any particular file, avoid using “the”. You can simply write, “Please, find attached.” or its abbreviated form: PFA. “Attached” is the correct word for electronic communications.
The Outlook Ribbon contains all of the options and commands that you use to accomplish tasks in Outlook. For example, you can click buttons on the ribbon to create a new email, delete emails, open a new meeting request, or assign a category to an item. However, the Ribbon does take up a lot of space on your screen.
You will then be able to browse to the file that you want to insert as text, select the file, then click the arrow to the right of the Insert button and choose the Insert as Text option.
Add a table to a message
- Click where you want to insert a table in your message.
- Click Insert > Table.
- Do one of the following: Click the table grid to set the number of rows and columns in a new empty table. Click Insert Table for a basic table template.
Select the Add-ins tab of Outlook Options dialog box. If the Teams Meeting Add-in is listed in the Disabled Application Add-ins list, select COM Add-ins in Manage and then select Go… Set the checkbox next to Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office. Choose OK on all dialog boxes.
In both cases, place the cursor at the beginning of the text to correct or the word to be looked up, then call Antidote's resources by the method of your choice. Note — If the Antidote bar does not appear, select "Show Antidote bar" from the context menu (right-click or ctrl + click).
You can enable animated GIFs in Outlook by doing one of the following: In Outlook for Office 365 before version 2008, select File > Options > Advanced. In the Display section, check the box to Play animated GIFs. If you have Outlook for Office 365, version 2008 or higher, use Windows 10 to enable animated GIFs.
Compose a new email message or reply to or forward an existing email message. If your draft email message opens in the Reading Pane, click Pop Out to open the message in a new window. Click in the message body. Then on the Insert menu, in the Illustrations group, choose one of the options.
Click the Settings cog and then click “View all Outlook settings.” Switch to the “Email” settings and then click “Compose and reply.” On the right-hand side, scroll down, untick the “Show joyful animations in the reading pane” check box, and then click Save. Congratulations!
Add a shape in Excel, Outlook, Word, or PowerPoint
- On the Insert tab, click Shapes.
- Click the shape you want, click anywhere in the workspace, and then drag to place the shape. To create a perfect square or circle (or constrain the dimensions of other shapes), press and hold Shift while you drag.

Insert a hyperlink
- In a message, position the cursor in the message body where you want to add a link.
- On the Message tab, click Hyperlink.
- In the Link box, type the address for the link.
- In the Text box, type the text that you want to appear in your message.
Add checkbox marks for printing in an email message
- Create a new email message with clicking Home > New Email.
- click to highlight the options text that you will add checkboxes before.
- Click Format Text (or Message) > bullet button > Define New Bullet.
- In the Define New Bullet dialog box, please click the Symbol button.
– Right-click and select Hyperlink from the menu. – Go to the Insert tab and select Hyperlink. – Press Ctrl + K. Any of those options will bring up the Insert Hyperlink window, where you can enter your desired URL in the Address field.
