Moraine Lake Canoe RentalsRentals start at $105 plus tax for one hour per canoe. It's best to check hours and prices directly with the Moraine Lake lodge as they are subject to change. Moraine Lake Lodge offers high-quality canoe rentals to visitors at our canoe dock from July 1 to mid-September. CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. Starting from $95.00 CAD plus tax per canoe for a one hour rental. Paddle, life jackets and basic instruction are provided.
Shuttles will be available between the Lake Louise Park and Ride and Moraine Lake. Shuttles run every Friday – Sunday (and Thanksgiving Monday) September 18 – October 12, 2020. Moraine Lake road is open from mid-May to mid-October and closed in winter.

Beginners can get a taste of paddling on the Bow River by renting a canoe at the docks on the north end of Bow Avenue. From here, you can explore a gentle section of the river or venture to Forty Mile Creek and the Vermillion Lakes.
Lake Louise KayakingThese gorgeous lakes provide incredible views along turquoise waters. Peyto Lake, about 43km North of Lake Louise, is also a stunning paddle. For river kayaking, the most popular route is the Bow River section from Lake Louise to Castle Junction.
Rowboats, canoes, kayaks, sailboats, and other non-motorized boats are allowed on all lakes and rivers in the park. Boats with motors, both gas and electric, are restricted to Lake Minnewanka only.
Swimming is permitted at two beaches along the shore of Lake Arthur: A sand volleyball court and playground are on the west side of the beach.

Banff has more options for short hikes that get you to scenic views. You have to work a little harder in Jasper, but that doesn't mean it's not worth the effort. Jasper is much less developed and the hiking trails in the wilderness are not as busy, which can be seen as a positive or negative.
The best times to visit Banff are June to August and December to March. Nature lovers will want to get to the park when the weather is warm and welcoming (and while the hotel rates in town are at a reasonable level).
Banff is a beautiful town in the heart to the Canadian Rockies and Calgary is basically a prairie city. The air smells great there and the scenery can not be beat. It is worth the drive for sure! Have fun!
