Making a return is the iPad Air, which was discontinued in 2017, while the aging iPad mini has received its first update in more than three and a half years. The new iPad Air essentially replaces the 10.5-inch iPad Pro and brings a couple of key changes that help lower the price from $649 to $499.

The Air and 7.9-inch iPad mini models have faster processors and work better for some people, and the iPad Pro is worth the extra money if you plan to use your iPad as your main computer, but the 7th-generation iPad represents the best all-around value. (You may want to spring for more storage.)
The best iPad overall
That's no longer the case with the 10.2-inch iPad released in September 2019 for those who want a bigger screen. It costs the same as the previous 9.7-inch iPad and it has most of the same hardware inside. If you own an aging iPad or iPad Mini, the 10.2-inch iPad is an excellent upgrade.Are all iPads waterproof? No. In fact none of them are - at least officially. The reason why no IP ratings (certifying water and dust resistance) are given for the iPads is that the devices are not IP-rated, and make no claims in this area.
