A "CCG" is a "collectible card game". This contracts from the term "TCG" which stands for "trading card game". The major difference between the two, is mainly that strictly speaking in a CCG, there is no trading of cards between players.
Magic the Gathering is, and always will be, Pay to Compete. You won't necessarily win if you spend a lot of money, but you will lose if you don't. No more so than the physical game. Do you have experience with the physical game?
There is no comparison between MTG and hearthstone, it's that simple. Totally different games and pace of gameplay. Mtg is much more complex and its competitive scene is by far larger, counting tournaments around the globe, number of contestants and prizes.
That said, the game is still pretty F2P friendly.
The trading card game was launched by Konami in 1999 in Japan and March 2002 in North America. It was named the top selling trading card game in the world by Guinness World Records on July 7, 2009, having sold over 22 billion cards worldwide.
Best Overall: Mattel Games Apples to ApplesThe deck is divided into red cards (which list people, places, things, and events) and green ones, which have adjectives. To play, the judge flips over the top green card, and the other players must put down a red card that best fits with the green one in play.
Yu-Gi-Oh's notoriously expensive. Throughout its history, we've seen some of the best decks sport price tags that easily cleared the $1,000 mark.
Magic: The Gathering is a trading card game (TCG), also called a tradable card game, collectible card game (CCG) or customizable card game. It was the first of its kind, played using specially designed sets of cards.
Nope. Pokemon Greed and Blue came out in Japan earlier in the same year as the first chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga was released. The Pokemon anime came out about a year before the first Yu-Gi-Oh!
Baseball cards outdate the National League, with the first ones popping up in the 1860s. They first became popular in the early 1900s, when tobacco companies started inserting them into packs as a way to boost sales.
The first modern trading card game, Magic: The Gathering, was set loose upon the world on 5 August 1993. Created by Professor Richard Garfield and published by Wizards of the Coast, Inc, Magic: The Gathering can be said to be the origin, indeed the very Genesis, of TCGs as we know them.

Is Yu-Gi-Oh a Pokemon ripoff? No. The Pokémon card game came out at about the same time. Yugioh now capitalized on cards and anime and Pokémon on games and anime.
As someone who played Magic and is currently playing Yugioh, Yugioh is in general harder. Standard Magic is pretty much a play-on-curve format now and while Modern has control decks, they're not exactly top tier.
Not at all. The game is going strong, and more people are going to big tournaments, not to mention all the casual players. At my nats qualifier, their were so many people, I hope you can get into the competitive aspect, and have some fun.
It is all about the game, and how you play it. Most of the expensive cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! scene are expensive for their form of rarity, as opposed to Magic cards that are only pricey because they are necessary to stay relevant in the competitive scene. This, combined with a friendlier age-gate, have made Yu-Gi-Oh!
It's fairly complicated, but the card game has some excellent introduction sets with great tutorials. If you have someone or a few to play with, it's a lot of fun to learn. Not sure which of the games does a good and intuitive job explaining though. The real card game is probably the best way.
Magic is not dying, but thousands of it's most enfranchised players are losing their love for the game and the future for Magic is bleaker than it has ever been.
MTG Arena is a Free-to-play version of Magic so it is the easiest version to try things out in. Magic is designed to be easy to get into and hard to master. In terms of expense, if you want to play on paper, Magic can be quite expensive. Many of the more powerful rare cards & mythic rare cards can cost US$ 10+.
in 2018, 65,000 played at Magic tournaments, 20,000 played at Yugioh tournaments. Magic Reddit has 300k subscribers, Yugioh Reddit has 100k. Therefore, if Magic has 1,000,000 active players, Yugioh has about 300k. What do you guys think the number is?
Structure decks are a cost-effective method of getting into Yugioh, they allow you to obtain a reasonably strong deck without emptying your wallet. Purchasing 3 of the same structure deck is the best way to get going, they usually come with a few cards each that are effective in almost any deck.
