How to Check Yamaha ATV Vin Code Numbers
- Look at the first three digits of the VIN. The first digit represents the country in which the ATV was made.
- Read the fourth through eighth digits. These digits represent the attributes of the ATV, such as body style and engine type.
- Look at the ninth digit.
- Read the tenth digit.
- Look at the eleventh digit.
Locate the VIN number on the frame of the ATV. This number is usually found near the front end of the vehicle on the left side under the shift lever. The title of the ATV will also have the VIN number on it.
You can find the model year of any ATV with that number.
- Find the 17-character vehicle identification number on the frame of your four wheeler. The number may be stamped on the frame, attached on a riveted metal plate, or attached with a sticker.
- Look at the 10th character of the vehicle identification number.
The VIN location is generally the same for motorcycles and dirt bikes - on the steering neck - though some are located on the motor near the bottom of the cylinders. Turn the handlebars to the left and look on the right side of the frame where the steering head goes through the frame.

If you want to find the Polaris VIN, you should take a little brush, a flashlight, a pencil and a piece of paper. You can start looking for the stamped number on the left side frame rail. Take a look at the front wheel well on the left side that's just beside the fender.
On vehicles from 1985-1995, the VIN can be found stamped stamped on the frame in the right-hand side foot well. Look in the locations pictured below. For youth ATVs from model years 2007 to present, the VIN can be found in one of two spots.

Read the tenth digit. This digit represents the year that the ATV was made. For example, A=1980, B=1981, Y=2000, 1=2001, 9=2009 and A=2010. This letter or number can repeat (the "A," for example), but the codes of the other digits in the VIN allow you to know in which year the ATV was made.
How to Read a Yamaha VIN Number
- Locate the VIN on your Yamaha.
- Decode the meaning of your Yamaha motor vehicle VIN by breaking down the unique pattern of numbers and letters.
- Locate the third VIN digit.
- Notice VIN numbers four through eight.
- Observe the ninth figure on the VIN.
- Look at the 10th figure of the VIN.

The 17-digit vehicle identification number of a Honda all-terrain vehicle is generally located on the main cross member where it's stamped during the assembly process. The main crossbar connects the left and right handles, and is usually covered by padding or plastic for safety and aesthetics.

A. Honda ATV's usually have the VIN stamp located on the front left side of the frame near the A-Arm mounts.
It will have the date of manufacturing which is normally month and year. If you don't have the RC then it may be complicated. You will have to look for the engine and chassis number engraved on the bike. Chassis number would typically be found somewhere on the handle bar.
How to Tell the Year of a Honda Motorcycle
- Locate the vehicle identification number. On most models, it is located on either side of the steering column on a metal plate or on the engine case.
- Call a Honda dealer, provide the VIN and request assistance determining the year of the motorcycle of interest.
