Neowise is one of the few comets visible to the unaided eye this century, an inner-solar system "intruder" that might become known as the Great Comet of 2020, NASA said.

Therefore when the comet returns in 2031 and 2064, there will be no meteor storms, but perhaps several good displays of Leonid activity when rates are in excess of 100 per hour. Next Peak - The Leonids will next peak on the Nov 16-17, 2020 night. On this night, the moon will be 5% full.
Expect meteor showers and a lunar eclipse in November, according to AccuWeather. The best time to see the shower is after midnight with the constellation Leo high overhead. The meteors will appear to originate from Leo, although you don't have to look in that direction.
The astronomy learning website Slooh will host a free live webcast tonight (July 18). The comet, officially known as C/2020 F3 NEOWISE, is currently visible in the northwestern sky just after sunset for skywatchers in the Northern Hemisphere.
Venus, the brightest planet, is in the east before sunrise. On December 21, Jupiter and Saturn will have their once-in-20-years conjunction in our sky, appearing closer than they have for centuries, only 1/5 of a moon-diameter apart.
The showers tend to be most visible after midnight and before dawn. It is best to use your naked eye to spot a meteor shower. Binoculars or telescopes tend to limit your field of view. You might need to spend about half an hour in the dark to let your eyes get used to the reduced light.
Based on Lyytinen and Jenniskens' observations, the Alpha Monocerotids meteor shower will start at 11:15 p.m. ET and the outburst is expected to be around 11:50 p.m. ET (or 4:50 UT). The outburst will only last for about 15 minutes and the entire meteor shower will be around 40 minutes.
In other words, Halley's comet resides about 60 times farther from the sun at its farthest than it does at its closest. It was last at perihelion in 1986, and will again return to perihelion in 2061. At present, comet Halley lies outside the orbit of Neptune, and not far from its aphelion point.
If you want to find it the old-fashioned way, just orient yourself to face the northwest and look for the Big Dipper. Neowise should appear below the bottom left corner of the Big Dipper's bowl, just above the horizon. As the comet moves away from Earth, it will move closer to the constellation Leo.
When a comet gets warm enough, it creates an extended, gas-rich cloud known as a coma around its nucleus. If the coma contains carbon-nitrogen and carbon-carbon bonds, the Sun's ultraviolet light will excite the electrons inside it, causing them to emit a green glow when they drop down in energy.
Halley's Comet is arguably the most famous comet. It is a "periodic" comet and returns to Earth's vicinity about every 75 years, making it possible for a human to see it twice in his or her lifetime. The last time it was here was in 1986, and it is projected to return in 2061.
Astronomers have now linked the comet's appearances to observations dating back more than 2,000 years. Halley was last seen in Earth's skies in 1986 and was met in space by an international fleet of spacecraft. It will return in 2061 on its regular 76-year journey around the Sun.
To spot the comet, look below the Big Dipper in the northwest sky after sunset. Find a spot away from city lights with an unobstructed view of the sky, NASA suggests. What's especially cool is that Neowise can be seen with the naked eye.
COMET 7P/PONS-WINNECKE (Perihelion 2021 May 27)The 2021 return is the most favorable one it will have had in several decades, with a minimum distance from Earth of 0.44 AU taking place in mid-June, and it should reach 10th or 11th magnitude. It has already been recovered as a very faint object in early January 2020.
The Perseid Meteor Shower will peak overnight on Tuesday night. The best time to view is between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 1 a.m. Wednesday. That's the darkest time of the night before the moon rises. For those with earlier bedtimes, a few shooting stars will be visible around 9 p.m. local time.
On the peak mornings in 2020, the moon will be at or slightly past its last quarter phase, so moonlight will be a factor in this year's display. Still, the Perseids are bright. We anticipate that – for those who take some care – you can still see a good display of Perseid meteors this year.
The Perseid meteor shower peaks August 12 and 13, 2020. Normally, the best time to watch is between midnight and dawn. In 2020, the Perseids are best seen before midnight (exceptionally early)—before the Moon rises to create unwanted brightness.
The meteors come out from a point in the constellation of Orion above the northern horizon. The best time to see it is between 4:00am and 5:00am. You can see it from anywhere in Australia, but the further north you are, the better.
You can see shooting stars randomly on clear nights, so keep an eye out for them while you're out and about. Shooting stars come in pairs. If you miss the first, make sure to wish on the second.
