Regards. Southport was a beautiful Victorian seaside town that has been neglected over the years. If you relocate, look at living in Birkdale or Churchtown which are nicer areas than the town centre, this can be rough at night. English is widely spoken in Southport and just like in Cape Town they drive on the left.
Free parking in Southport is available at Botanic Gardens in Churchtown and the RSPB at Marshside, so visitors to either of these attractions are catered for. If you prefer the convenience of using your car, Southport really is accessible and parking is easy to find.

Southport and Ainsdale, LancashireThe beach is only open for driving in summer and only on the foreshore (you can't drive to the water's edge). There's a price for parking, but it's cheaper at Sands Pub a short distance away. The sand can be soft, so take care in two-wheel drive vehicles.

The beach can be accessed via a hard standing path and a boardwalk from Lifeboat Road car park. At Victoria Road the beach can only be accessed over the sand dunes via a steep, sandy path.
