Western astrologyBeginning with the first sign Aries which is a Fire sign, the next in line Taurus is Earth, then to Gemini which is Air, and finally to Cancer which is Water. Fire — 1 – Aries; 5 – Leo; 9 – Sagittarius – hot, dry, ardent.
Even stranger, however, is the fact that NASA has added a brand-new 13th zodiac sign into the mix: Ophiuchus. “The constellations are different sizes and shapes, so the Sun spends different lengths of time lined up with each one,” a spokesperson explained.
Zodiac signs were originally determined by which constellation the Sun was "in" on the day you were born. Thus, they calculated that each constellation extends 30 degrees across the ecliptic. However, a phenomenon called precession has altered the position of the constellations we see today.
The most compatible zodiac sun signs: Fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) stereotypically tend to get along best with other Fire and Air signs: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) often vibe best with other Earth and Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces.
Cancer is a cardinal water sign.
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Libra, (The Scales of Balance), is the only symbol of the zodiac that is inanimate (it is not represented by an animal or person). The opposite sign to Libra is Aries.
In astrology, your sun sign is what most people consider their star sign. The sun sign dictates your zodiac personality, and is influenced by your day and month of birth. Astrologists say the sun sign shows what you want, and the moon reveals what you need.
No, we did not change the zodiac. NASA made it clear that it was the Babylonians who, 3000 years ago, divided the zodiac into 12 parts based on the 12 months of their calendar. While a 13th constellation does exist, 'Ophiuchus,' the Babylonians decided to leave it out.
No new constellation, says NASAShifts in astrological paradigms have been around since 2011, when Minnesota Planetarium Society astronomers found that the alignment of the stars had changed due to the moon's gravitational pull on Earth.
The 12 signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.
There's very little scientific proof that astrology is an accurate predictor of personality traits, future destinies, love lives, or anything else that mass-market astrology claims to know.
Astrology has been rejected by the scientific community as having no explanatory power for describing the universe. Astrology has not demonstrated its effectiveness in controlled studies and has no scientific validity, and is thus regarded as pseudoscience.
After NASA's discovery of a new constellation, a NASA blog post stated that there are now actually 13 Zodiac signs, not 12 - thus putting the entire astrological chart out of whack. The 13th Zodiac sign is called Ophiuchus and it's the star sign for people born between November 29 and December 17.
