That same player (Wilt Chamberlain) has pulled in 50 rebounds in a game twice! A player has dished 30 assists before. A quadruple-double has been recorded four times. A quintuple-double has never happened and has never been close, so it must be the most-difficult stat-based accomplishment ever in NBA history.
When a player reaches a score of ten or more in at least three of these statistical categories in a game, he records a triple double (e.g. 10 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds).
Since Olajuwon's effort only one other player in NBA history has recorded a quadruple-double, with David Robinson achieving the feat in 1994.
Most Quadruple Doubles
| Rank | Player | # Times |
|---|
| 1 | Nate Thurmond | 1 |
| Alvin Robertson | 1 |
| Hakeem Olajuwon | 1 |
| David Robinson | 1 |
A double-double is when you record double-digit numbers in two offensive categories. For example, if you score 20 points and grab 10 rebounds, then you recorded a double-double in points and rebounds.
Wilt Chamberlain Reportedly Had A Quintuple-Double With 53 Points, 32 Rebounds, 14 Assists, 24 Blocks, And 11 Steals. Triple-doubles are a relatively rare feat in the NBA. On March 18th, 1968 the NBA's greatest record breaker allegedly did something amazing: a quintuple-double (the first and only one in NBA history).
: an illegal action in basketball made when a player dribbles the ball with two hands simultaneously or continues to dribble after allowing the ball to come to rest in one or both hands.
In basketball and lacrosse, the offensive player setting the pick must remain stationary at the moment of contact with the defender, and allow the defensive player a "reasonable opportunity" to avoid the screen; a screen is illegal if the screener moves in order to make contact, and obtains an advantage; the result is
Cross ScreenA cross screen occurs when a player cuts to the opposite side of the floor to set a screen for a teammate. This most commonly happens in the paint and can be a great way to get a player who was on the weak side of the floor open for a quick shot or layup.
By rule "A player may not use the arms, hands, hips or shoulders to force his/her way through a screen or to hold the screener and then push the screener aside in order to maintain a guarding position on an opponent." But at what point has he actually committed a foul?
In the simplest terms, a ball screen (also known as a basketball screen, or a pick) is a basketball play practiced and executed by a basketball team in which a teammate positions their body in front of a defender to create space for a teammate to shoot, attack the basket, or pass the ball without defensive intrusion.
A screen in lacrosse is an offensive pattern in which a player positions their body in the path of a defender to allow a teammate to get open for a shot or pass.
NBA, NCAA and FIBA rules all state that you can touch a ball after making a pass if it first comes into contact with another player. As such, it is technically legal to complete a self-pass that involves deliberately bouncing the ball off an opposing player's body.
The name comes from the two simple maneuvers that make it up. First, a teammate screens off a defending player (i.e., stands in front of him), which is called a pick in basketball slang. Second, the screening teammate then spins (rolls) around the defender for the ball-carrier to pass it to them.
Thankfully, calling for a screen is pretty easy in NBA 2K20. All you need to do is hold L1 if you're on PS4 (LB on Xbox One and L on Switch) and a nearby teammate will shuffle over to the area of the court in front of the player you're in control of with the ball.
Box-Out - The act of positioning yourself (after a shot goes up) between the opposing player and the basket, to rebound the ball in anticipation of a missed shot.
To defend the pick and roll at the wing or centerfield, here are some tactics:
- Trap the dribbler and go over the screen.
- Hard show and go over.
- Pinch, squeeze, or push up and under or through.
- Trap and aggressively switch the rescreen.
- Show and go under.
- Stop the dribbler and go over.
