Plug the USB end of the cable into an empty USB port on your PC or laptop. Plug the GBA end of the cable into the charging port on the top of the system. Turn on your computer or laptop and allow the GBA SP system to charge.
Backlit Model (AGS-101)
- The box states "Now with a BRIGHTER backlit screen!" to distinguish the new model from the older, frontlit models.
- The backlit SP has the Model Number AGS-101 on the label on the bottom of the unit, whereas the original frontlit SP has the Model Number AGS-001.
First and foremost, if it is in your hands, and you can turn over and look at the Model Number (Circled in red for your convience). It is the first thing on the tag on the back. AGS 001 is Front Lit, AGS 101 is Back Lit.
Game Boy Color Games will work on Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Advance SP systems. They will not work on the DS, DS Lite, or DSi. GBA. There is no major difference between GBA and GBC gameplay with GB/GBC games, plus the fact you get the entire library of GBA games to boot. The only reason for having a GBC is fora collection. GBCs feel better to hold in my opinion, but being that GBA can play GB/GBC/GBA games, I would recommend the GBA.

The GBA supports multiboot and can actually load some ROMs via the link port. not for GBA, but the closest thing to this you can do for free (provided you have a 3DS) is hack a 3DS and inject GBA games to virtual console apps. GB/GBC games are also possible on 3DS but that's just the same as emulating on PC.
How to Change the Battery:
- Remove all games, the AC Adapter, and turn the system off before attempting to remove the battery.
- Using a a small philips head screwdriver -- sometimes called a jeweler's, micro, precision, or miniature (#00), unscrew the small philips head screw on the back of the Game Boy Advance SP.
Plug in the AC adapter and power the Nintendo DS Lite handheld video game systems from any 120-volt outlet. The AC adapter also allows you to recharge the battery pack, even while you play.
