The 40mm is definitely the right size for me, the 44 would be absolutely massive. But for the women who don't have absurd sticks for wrists like I do, the 44mm might be fine. Very thin wrists, go small. Thick wrists can wear either, but the 42 might look a bit small (38 looks like a child's watch on a thick arm).
If your wrist is 6 to 7 inches in circumference, you should typically go with 38mm, 40mm and 42mm watch cases. If your wrist circumference is 7.5 to 8 inches, you should be looking at 44mm to 46mm watch cases. These recommendations are based off of the modern trend of larger timepieces.
Anything above 46mm starts to become too large, and is usually reserved for rakish or flashy outfits. Anything below 38mm leans towards jewelry and eases into women's size watches.
Even if you think you want to go small, you can still consider both sizes — neither is enormous — though those with smaller wrists may find the 40mm fits more comfortably on the wrist. The 44mm Apple Watch has a display size of 448x368 pixels.
But what does your wrist size says about you? Having small wrists is not a bad thing however, it does not also mean you are weak or that you're in a bad shape. In terms of dressing, with the smaller size of your wrist, a watch can look comically over-sized or uncomfortably small on your arm.
To find your perfect size within the range, use your wrist measurement. If your wrist is between 14cm – 18cm, select a small or medium watch with a diameter of 38mm, 40mm or 42mm. If your wrist is 18cm and above, choose a larger case, such as one that is 44-46mm.
Are Big Watches out of Fashion ? Yes, the trend has turned away from larger watches. I had a 47mm Pilot watch, sold it. It felt like a flying saucer on my wrist, though I do have a 7+ inch wrist, it just didn't feel and look right.
It all depends on the size of your wrist. Irrespective of the wrist size, I think in today's time and age 34mm for a men's watch is considered small! I like 34mm watches, I have 6.5'' wrists so can wear anything up to 42mm but prefer smaller sizes.
If you consider a 42mm watch to be fairly large, 47mm is definitely big. The watch they're, ahem, homaging is that big though. I have an 8" wrist and the largest pilot I own is 45mm, and had to consider that for a while before purchase.
35MM are fine as long as they have wrist presence. . I have quite a few and they all work on my 190m wrist. Such BS. Look, honestly, 35mm watches may be a little small for a 190 meter wrist.
I would say 36mm is the largest watch most men with small (6–7″ wrists) can wear comfortably. It is probably ideal for most wrists. It will only be too small if you have wrists like Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
As a general rule, I'd say 36mm is somewhat small for your size wrist. I have about the same size wrist and I recently got a bit obsessed with the 36mm Datejust - they look fabulous in photos.
The 38mm definitely looks a little small, but looks more like an appropriately sized watch for my wrist size. As a man who is secure in himself and realizes his wrists are not that big (170 mm), I had no problem ordering the 38. At the try-on, it looked good and was not "tiny" The 42 covers the width of my wrist.
The designed male watches with 36mm width diameter while the measurement of female watches is 26mm diameter. But in 2019, they launched 42mm watches for women that can be considered “oversized”. It does not mean that 42mm watches for women do not suit all of the ladies.
To measure a watch case size, place calipers from one side to the opposite side of the case, just above or below the crown, where the case diameter is the smallest. The easiest way is to measure the case from the 4 o'clock to 10 o'clock position or from the 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock position.
