When a Delonghi coffee maker doesn't work for you, to the point of not even turning on, the problem is usually in the electrical board, and more specifically in the thermal fuses or capacitors. Any of these elements are easy to buy and replace, as they are quite cheap.
Most of our coffee machines have an alert to tell you when it needs descaling and after a set number of uses, an orange or amber light will show up, which is the machine's way of telling you it's time for descaling. If your machine doesn't have this feature, make sure to clean it every 3 to 4 months.
If you prefer a DIY descaling solution, pour equal parts water and distilled vinegar into the reservoir until full.
Reset to factory settings
- With machine being turned off, press and hold down the Lungo button for 5 seconds.
- LEDS will blink fast 3 times to confirm machine has been reset to factory settings.
- LEDs will then continue to blink normally, as heating up, until ready.
By definition, descaling is a metal cleaning process that removes the buildup of limescale; a hard, off-white, chalky deposit that can impair the operation of various components.
Fill the water chamber halfway with white vinegar, and then top it off with water. Set the carafe in place and start a brew cycle. Halfway through, turn off the coffee maker and let it sit for one hour. (If you descale your coffee machine regularly, you may be able to skip the rest period.)
about once every 3 months
When the dreaded descale light comes on, it's simply an alert that something is preventing the normal flow of water. While that can mean you have scale build up in your lines inside the Keurig, that isn't the only possible issue. It is also possible to pack your cup too tightly which restricts the water flow.
To exit the descaling mode, press both the Espresso and Lungo buttons for 3 seconds.
Turn machine off by pressing power button. Unplug for at least 15 seconds. When you plug it back in and turn it on, the clean/descale light will be off. 12 of 12 found this helpful.
The machine is now ready for use. NOTE: This machine is equipped with a descaling alert: GREEN and RED steady light. Machine can only be operated to make coffee a few more times once the alert appears before descaling becomes mandatory.
Treat the yellow and red light as if it was a yellow and green light; it's a descaling issue. Acquire some descaling liquid or powder. It doesn't have to be Nespresso's own-brand; You may even be able to do it with just water. Turn the machine on and make sure there's no capsule in the thing.
Descale Solution Pouch:
- Pour entire pouch of Keurig Descaling solution into water reservoir.
- Add 3 cups (24oz.)
- Place a large mug on the drip tray.
- To activate Descale Mode, power off brewer and hold down 8oz and 12oz buttons together for 3 seconds.
- When flashing, press the brew button to start the descaling process.
So the cause of issue is that after running a descaling/rinse cycle, be sure to MANUALLY EXIT special mode by pressing button and lever at the same time for three seconds until you see full green circle flashes. After that, let the machine cool down for about 10 minutes before making a coffee.
